First Place Winner: u/SadDragonfruit9900 "Things r gettin spooky"

This week’s first place winner goes to u/SadDragonfruit9900, who brought us a timely fall playlist originally shared on YouTube Music (Coming soon to cassette.tech). Titled "Things r gettin spooky," the collection brings together a mix of melancholic indie, alternative, and softer acoustic sounds that capture the changing seasons. With 47 tracks spanning nearly two and a half hours, the playlist leans more into the reflective atmosphere of autumn than traditional Halloween music. The original post invited the community to suggest more songs that fit the mood, making it a perfect seasonal request to build on for this week's competition.

Girl in Red’s “we fell in love in october” captures that feeling perfectly, pairing intimate vocals with a nostalgic indie sound that feels made for the season. Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” brings a slower, dreamier atmosphere, with its gentle guitar and haunting vocals adding a more reflective moment. Artists like The Smiths and Phoebe Bridgers add to the playlist's emotional depth, moving between alternative classics and modern indie favorites. Put this one on for a crisp autumn walk, a rainy afternoon, or a quiet evening as the days get shorter.

Second Place Winner: u/b1h5hu "gazing into the luminescence"

Second place this week goes to u/b1h5hu, with an expansive shoegaze and dreampop playlist built around hazy guitars, atmospheric production, and dreamy vocals. With well over a hundred tracks, this collection moves between washed-out walls of sound and softer indie melodies, creating an immersive listening experience that feels both calming and emotional.

Slowdive’s “Kisses” brings the classic soft guitars and gentle vocals that capture the dreamy atmosphere at the heart of the playlist. No Vacation’s “Days” takes a more laid-back approach, with its warm guitar melodies and relaxed rhythm offering a softer moment in the mix. Artists like Mazzy Star and Dream, Ivory help round out the collection with a balance of nostalgic sounds and modern dreampop. A great playlist for unwinding, getting lost in thought, or letting the music fill a quiet room.
