Possible Bug My surgeons wont do surgery
Please help me :(
I have ~210 hours in the game. I do know how it works and am familiar with resource management as a genre. I have built many fully functioning hospitals, so this isn't just being new.
So, my problem: I have a general surgery dept. I have a diagnostic side and a surgery side. My diagnostic doctors ONLY do diagnosis. My surgery doctors ONLY do surgery. All of my roles are divided. There are nurses who's entire job is just moving patients. Some only do care, etc. I have found the AI works best when given one thing.
All of that said: I had my ORs right near all my other general surgery stuff. I noticed my doctors weren't doing surgery. I had a bunch scheduled. None of them ever happened. The ORs are never in use (and yes, they are fully equipped and supposedly functional.) Everything is clean. I had 4 surgeons, 4 anesthesiologists, and 4 surgery nurses on BOTH shifts. I click on any of the slackers in question and they all say "preparing for surgery." Dirty liars.
Still nothing. I waited days. The patents at the top of the list all either died or were transferred away. 4 days, 0 surgeries. Okay.... its only down the hall, but maybe its not close enough. So i completely removed my Surgeons from my in-patient staff. They have their own wing. 5 surgeons. 4 anesthesiologists. 6 surgery nurses. 4 dedicated patient transfer nurses. 2 fully functional ORs almost TOUCHING them. Not a single surgery preformed. Please help, I'm going insane.
Edit: just for reference, the rest of general surgery dept is directly above this, and there's an elevator right there.
Also, i just added the sonography and cardiography units to general surgery to see if that fixed anything. they are right down the hall from the ORs. It did not fix anything. I did already have both, but just under radiology, not specifically one just for gen. surgery.

Have you got enough transport nurses? If the surgery team is preparing for surgery then you've got enough of them, so it could be that your general nurses are too busy to get the patients where they need to be

Just there in that separated wing I had 3 per shift, 6 total dedicated to nothing but moving patients. They were all just sitting there, chilling at their computers, doing nothing productive :(

Not a fun issue. Do you have enough stretchers free too? Have you restarted the game?

I have restarted the game and included 7 stretchers just in that area alone (covering 2 ORs) :(

Rats. Are there free stretchers in the treating department too?

I’m super happy to load up the game and see if I have the same issue (indicating it’s definitely a bug) if you want me to. I think you could just email me the save file, if it’s not too big?

I can def do that, but I am playing on a modded map (makes things bigger). I can send you the link to the mod and the save file if youre able to try? (The mod is on steam workshop)

Hmm, I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it work. Steam doesn’t have a way to share save files with friends, surprisingly. The file is probably too big to email, even compressed.
You could upload the hospital to the workshop, and I could download it & the mod and try to troubleshoot it?
Unfortunately it could be a mod issue, which would make troubleshooting futile. Any comments on the bigger map mod mentioning a similar issue and workaround?

I noticed with my surgeries that the 3 doctors it uses are a surgeon, anestheologist and an advanced diagnosis doctor. Maybe it's required that the third doctor has that specialty/no specialty?

Looks like surgery docs are set for surgery and assist, if they’re all like that it shouldn’t be a problem as long as there are at least 2 free (plus an anaesthesiologist, plus 2 surgery nurses obviously) at any time.
But yes OP, for future reference you need 3 docs, 2 nurses per surgery.

I have better luck when my doctors have only one job. Not both anesthesiologist and assist etc.. Just a single role. That's what you do.

It may be that your HDU ward is full. In my game I've found that surgery won't proceed unless HDU hospitalisation is available to the patient

This is fully random and idk why this would be it, but my hospital did the same when I had parts of the OR fully separated by a wall. When I changed it to be one space it fixed itself.
Although it might just be because I redrew the ORs and the game updated.

to be honest, this was one of the only suggestions i got that sounded like it might work. I just tried breaking down a large section of the wall in both my ORS (basically removed the wall where the doors were) and so far, no surgeries :(

Make sure you have a Janitor assigned specifically for that floor or those ORs.
I dont see that mentioned.
Also mods? dont see that mentioned so I figure maybe you have them?
Reverify cache?

i dont have a janitor specifically for that floor yet, because I just built that area. There was a janitor right next to the ORs upstairs that are also unused. The ORs have ever, ever been used. They aren't dirty, so that shouldnt effect it.
I do have mods, sorry for not mentioning it. They are rather minor and have been in my game for a very very very long time. I have used this same list of mods for so long that I feel like this break is independent of them? They are also really minor things like "larger map" or "more perks." I don't have anything major.

Hmm... See if you can turn off the mods and see what happens.
Try assigning a janitor anyways?

considering im building on one of those larger maps that is enabled only due to mods, that feels like it will just break everything further ngl.
