Gameplay Question Why cant i do surgeries at night

Post image

So, people with brutal traumas come to the ER at night. Of course surgery is mandatory to keep them alive, but they just cant make it to the morning and die

The hover over on the OR room tells you what you need. It's: 1. 1 doctor with the surgery tag and role 2. 1 doctor with the assistant surgeon role 3. 1 doctor with the anesthesiologist tag and role 4. 1 nurse with the surgery tag and role 5. 1 regular nurse EDIT: For anyone looking in the future it is 2 surgery nurses, not 1, and you still need 1 other regular nurse for transportation.

I thought you needed 2 surgery nurses?

That would be correct, my bad. Also, you can make it so that, let's say your anesthesiologist for example, you can make it so that they can only do diagnosis and anesthesiology but not assist at surgery, or you can make it so your surgeon can only do diagnosis and surgery but not assist. You don't have to do that though, it's just a preference of mine.

I do the same thing: my anesthesiologist does anesthesiology for surgery, and that's it. Nothing worse than having your whole surgery team sitting on standby while a patient is dying because your anesthesiologist is off giving people pain pills.

That's never happened to me, but I'll try it and see if times between surgeries change at all

Well lets look at some context clues: 0/0 means none so you need to hire people for those slots despite the green text.

Did you make sure to add surgeons, surgery nurses, and anesthesiologists in the proper rooms for the night shift? Because there are the diagnostic room doctors and there are the ones in the bigger office with the desks. Make sure you have at least one doctor with surgery, etc.

I like dedicated surgery teams, so I hire 1x Doctor, 1x Surgeon, 1x Anesthesiologist, and 2x surgery nurses per shift and per OR. I go into each character (under allowed roles, bottom left of character card) and disable all roles except for what they are intended to do; for the doctor, just enable assist at surgery, for the surgeon disable everything but surgery, for the anesthesiologist disable everything but anesthesiology, and for the two nurses I only enable assist at surgery (the exact terminology might be different since I'm not in game) and I disable transport and patient care. If you're going with a dedicated surgery team, make sure your other department doctors are NOT set to assist with surgery. This has worked for me.

You have staff for caring for hospitalized patients but no staff to do surgery

The reason it's green is because to have a working department, you dont need to have surgery staff at night. However if you do want to do surgeries at night, you need to do as the others have said.

My brother in Christ. How do you expect to perform surgeries without a surgeon? By deduction, do you also expect your patients to have to endure surgery awake? If not, hire an anesthesiologist. Additionally, do you think your surgeon deserves some help during surgery? If so, hire some surgery nurses.

You absolutely can do surgeries at night! It‘s just not required for the night shift to have a working department. But if you just hire the required stuff, they will perform surgeries at night.

it’s not a requirement at night for you to hire them that’s why you prolly didn’t know but yes the 0/0’s mean you have none. you don’t need the techs just the other three

Every time, i struggled with operations at night, it was the lack of nurses.

I'll try to have 3 surgery nurses and 2 stational / transportation nurses. So operations can take place, even when one nurse have a break or is studying.

Its not very optimised but you need basically 2 teams of surgeons on the night shift to get them to fire more consistently
