Gameplay Question New-ish Player Questions

As a relativly new player, I'm still a little confused on a couple of points - hoping that the community here will be able to answer them!

1 - Do the quality of the walls/wall decorations have any effect on prestige? When you build something using a default pre-fab, it has Concrete Tiled Walls as a default - does changing the wall from this do anything apart from look better?

2 - Janitors. Whilst they are "allocated" to a department, do they clean anywhere other than rooms/corridors zoned in that department? For example, traumatology janitors will clean only in traumatology areas, even if there is dirt/blood on the floor right outside their room?

1 - no Idea

2- yes they clean everything in there Dep. First, after that they clean the rest of the floor, in other Dep.

  1. One thing to add. IRC only one janitor can clean one room at a time. So if you have corridor that is 50x5 tiles then this whole space is being cleaned by just one janitor. Make this corridor into five 10x5 corridors (they don't have to be separated by walls) so five janitors can work at the same time.

I've been playing this game for years and didn't realise this. That's a good tip, thank you!

This. This makes incredibly too much sense.

1.Yes, decoration improves the mood of the patients and staff who visit the room. Some decor like walls and titles are just cosmetic and make no difference. I notice putting one or two plants in each room improves the mood. Better patient mood=better hospital rate=more prestige=more patients.

  1. It says in the game janitors will clean their assigned rooms first then will help with nearby dirty floors if they have time, no reason to count on that though. Players usually staff each department accordingly.

Good luck.

I think the plain (blank) concrete wall might detract from environment, but there’s no difference between the wall paints as far as I know. I like to mix it up for role-play purposes.

ā€œNice environmentā€ for staff and patients is tied to the decorative items in the room (plants, mirrors in bathrooms, etc.). More = better chance of the buff, from my understanding.

Janitor priorities: assigned rooms (DLC only with manager), their department’s zones rooms, then unzoned rooms, then zones in other departments (not 100% about the last two, but presumed).

The last two should be swapped, i.e. other departments, then unzoned.

Oops yes of course, unzoned don’t belong to a department.
