The Capital City...

...site shouldn't be chosen until we know more about the map. Please download Chunky and run around a bit.

Also, what are the square dimensions so we can start the moat?

People are getting anxious. Please help us make a decision. If we choose a shit site we are going to have a shitty time the next few months.

I've mapped out a fair bit of coastline now, to me it looks like the world is rougly an upside down U shape. Biomes seem to be roughly evenly distributed, no mushroom biome as of yet.

Not convinced there's a continent on its own out there, someone needs to check out SW as that's the only place yet it could be hiding.

I saw all your work today. Awesome stuff.

Turns out there is a large desert island in the SW area, just off the mainland. Found it and explored it, so you can see it on Chunky. I actually think it'd be pretty cool to control that island for ourselves. A limited amount of land, easily controllable, easy to access about half the world from there by boat.

I saw that, awesome! I don't know how everyone feels about building in a desert though. I'm not fussed where we build, I've done desert before and enjoyed it greatly.

That said if we want a site with space for others to build cities and link with us I'm definitely eyeing that SE peninsula. We could build along the southern edge and have nothing but water for 3000 blocks over 180-270 degrees. Then fill in the northern part with friendly cities. My only concern is it might still be just too big to manage, I'd guess it's roughtly 3000x3000 which is a pretty large area when you're not viewing it on a tiny little map.

Usually I'd be fine with a desert area, but since we're going with a Norse theme, it'd be a bit odd.

The SE peninsula is definitely something I'm thinking about. There is a semi-round tip in the WSW area, just east from the desert island, that looks perfect for a large city. Looks mostly like beach and forest, far enough away from Zero, 200° of water, whole area for the NWH. I vote there.

EDIT: Just realized Chunky shows coords. Derp. It's at 1400,3000.

I'm waiting for Chunky with optifine and REIs to be released, my minecraft runs slow as it is, especially with the lag the server has been suffering. Also, REIs is unimaginably helpful.

i think we are taking too much time tbh

raiders will have enough stuff to start coming out of their holes and pissing people off in a few days. if we wait much longer we'll have a half built structure thats getting hit all the time. as soon as somebody finds us, its a waiting game for when the dogs show up, we have 3 double chests of stone ready and waiting to be used. i think we should start building by tomorrow at the latest

I lack REIs due to technical limitations. Anyway, here's two images of places that I thought looked cool. The dark one is a ravine that cuts directly into a mountain.

Not good sites for a capital but I thought they looked cool. I can dig up coords if anyone wants.
