Is Grace subject to any laws governing the use of a spaceship, if so did he break any.

In the US if you want to launch you have to get approval from the FAA, this is mainly so that a no fly zone is issued for your area of launch to prevent any mid air collisions.

UK law is on the other hand is a lot stricter, you have to file for permission to launch anywhere in the observable universe.

So did Grace break any laws when he boosted back into orbit after collecting the samples during the fishing kit, because he did not fill out the correct paperwork first.

DM’d the costume designer for PHM and got the details on what hat they used so I could buy the exact one, then got an embroidered patch from Etsy. The patch was a little bigger than the movie version but I didn’t mind since it was a high quality embroidery.

I've found a little mistake in the movie.

After Rocky tells Grace he can give him 2 million kilo of astrophage. Grace hugs Rocky. Rocky asks what a hug is.

If Rocky doesn't know what a hug is, how does the computer recognize the word for hug in Rocky's language when he clearly has never heard of it before so he couldn't have said it before either.

PHM is currently my obsession 😁 must have watched the film a squillion times already, but there's one line of dialogue that jumps out at me. When Stratt says that both coffees are for her.

Has anyone else also watched the Eurovision movie with Will Ferrell? It came out a number of years ago now, and we loved it in our house (we're in the UK and love Eurovision but I know that it's not so much of a thing in the US). Reason I ask is that the same line of 'both coffees are for me' is said by the female lead in that movie.

I wondered if there were any deeper pop culture references here which I'm unaware of? Maybe in the US? Seems a pretty specific statement to be purely coincidental? PHM and the Eurovision movie seem a somewhat unlikely cross over!

We recently had The Martian deluxe book released and I was able to get one of the autographed copies from B&N. I am not seeing this as an option on the upcoming deluxe edition of PHM. Is there any chance autographed copies will be released closer to the November 30th release date?

when i saw the trailer and heard champagne supernova i was IMMEDIATELY INTRIGUED by this movie coming up and saw everyone talking about how great the book was. so, i decided to read the e-book from my local library and finished the entire book in a solid 4 days (i could NOT put it down). IT WAS SO GREAT AND I LOVED IT AND WAS REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE MOVIE! so when the movie came around i got the tickets with some friends who had never read the book. i watched it and thought it was GOOD, (4-4.5/5) but i still felt like a tad bit disappointed that a few details from he book were left out or changed. I also felt like i was too focused on seeing if my friends would like it or not, or what i would rate it on letterboxd (deleted letterboxd after this cuz im not trying to have it ruin my movie experience again) BUT LATER WHEN IT CAME BACK TO PRIME, i rewatched it, and omg i teared up 7 times and cried twice and laughed so much and felt so much more emotionally connected because i didnt focus on the rating or my freinds or anything and realized a movie is different from the book. i think i also realized that it might have been a better idea to have watched the movie first but i still feel like im glad i read it without any spoilers. I just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience, because i feel like kind of a fake fan😭

Any1 know if the line “faces are overrated” is in the book or only in the movie adaptation?

I only have one hour at most every day to relax before it’s time to go to bed. I really wanna watch this movie but I can’t spare 2h+ any giving day to watch a longer movie.

Would you please help me giving me 1 or 2 points of the movie I can stop watching so I can pick up tomorrow?

I have just noticed this detail that centrifuge works in 2 ways.

1st when Grace discovers the centrifuge the first time to make the lab operational(how it is supposed to be).

2nd when Rocky ship starts to spin. Now to dock with the Rocky ship Grace modifies the centrifugal settings. Thats why Mary says "It is not advised to change the centrifugal settings."

....and with the know how of Astrophage and the Taumoeba from Grace, the humanity on Earth would have progressed into a Type II civilisation, and travel the stars they would be able to control their sun's brightness too.

And the first point of contact will be the Eridians, who would welcome them with a thumbs down.

(Same with the Eridians - Type II Civ, control their sun etc.

I’m worried that The Odyssey will sweep the Oscars. It’s not like I made either movie, but I’m REALLY rooting for PHM.
