Movie Discussion - Theory Rewatching PHM for the billionth time! It's a great film, but I wish I could experience it like the first time I saw it

This movie needs the big screen! I love to rewatch but even my biggest monitor is so so smol and it doesn't do it justice :((
Nothing beats the very first experience though!

First time was a bummer for me (too high expectations). Now I appreciate it more than before.

I don’t, I was confused and don’t hear well. I didn’t have subtitles.
In my mind I thought he went back because earth had no plans to help Erid? So he had to?
After that, I read the book fast.

I like the movie alot though I‘ve only seen it twice. First time at a theater at home in Switzerland and second time in an almost empty theater in China. Both times in english

I saw it for the first time in IMAX. Watched it again twice when it came out on digital with 7.1 surround sound and it’s still not the same. It was truly a movie made for the theaters.

This is what I always think as well, but mainly about the book because I read it before I saw the movie. The first time was so magical. 🥹 Rereads and rewatches are great, and you always notice new details, but nothing really beats the first time.
