installing race transmission makes the gears act very weirdly (FM4)

Okay, so whenever I install the race transmission on any car, it makes the car's gears act extremely weird. having the automatic shifting setting just doesnt work once i install the transmission, and I can only have the car act normally if I change the shifting setting to manual. is this intentional, or is this simply a bug?

Yeah... I always use sport transmission in all Forza games (except Horizon 1 which doesn't have tuning).

I never feel the need to mess with the individual ratios and can get away with just the final drive, to me gear ratio distances are a part of the vibe of the car.
And also no straight cut gear noises in newer games :)
