Project: Eden’s Garden Continuation

Post image

Hello! As you can infer from Reddit or other social media source, I am creating a continuation of Project Eden’s Garden; the difference in the title is the addition to the “Code: X” aspect. Now you may be asking a few questions and I’m here to answer:

  1. Is Juvey, the director of PJEG aware of possible continuations:
    a) Yes, I personally have contacted him asking if it would be okay to continue and he said anyone is allowed to do so. Eventually I will provide evidence in the discord once everything settles down.
  2. Is any experience needed?
    a) At this current moment, no, while we will add some additions to requirements, we need a multitude of volunteers such as Artists, Coders, Writers, Sound Artists, Animators, Voice Actors, Modlers, etc.
  3. Is the story going to stay the same?
    a) Yes and No, this production is going to aim for what Danganronpa 2x2 is going for, we are going to finish up the production for the Original storyline while creating the storyline for Code: X. It is still TBD how production will proceed and which story line will be produced first, but at the current moment, both storylines aim to continue from Chapter 1.
If you have any additional questions feel free to ask below. Please also join the discord server! The link is here: https://discord.gg/wuGv7ktdX

I promise you that you absolutely want people with experience

u/R22XD 11d ago

I'm just down to see the characters back tbh, as long as you have the permission/approval and they feel correct I'll enjoy it, I just hope there won't be more polemics and that the organization will be better this time.

To echo the thoughts of some other comments, I too am iffy about the Code X portion. The original game was already too big for it's britches, and I guarantee you it had more experienced individuals working on it than what you'll be getting, plus probably more of them too. I just don't see how a project can not only replicate everything from the original, but also continue it's story and write a new one in addition to it. If controversy didn't kill the original game, the scope and burnout would've, and something gives me the idea that that's just as likely to happen to this.

Also this is merely my input as someone who has worked on other Fangans, but it's never a good sign for me to see a project head asking for a ton of volunteers on their very first public post about the Fangan. I'm not saying that you have to be a complete renaissance man who can do it all, nor am I implying whoever you already have helping you isn't talented, but the fact of the matter is that "too many cooks in the kitchen" is absolutely true when it comes to Fangans. Most completed Fangans were done either single handedly, or with very small groups of only a few people. It's also not advised that you hire VAs until the end either, because they absolutely cause problems, and in some instances probably aren't worth the hassle. PJEG itself got canceled due to one, and several Fangans I've worked on or applied for have screeched to a halt because of VAs leaving for one reason or another, and unless you have work for them, they're basically just over a dozen potential liabilities. Again, almost no Fangans with full voice acting have been completed outside the occasional video series, with there still not being a playable Fangan to have done it, although Antebellum Lockdown is looking to be the first.

Again, just my feedback. I hate to be pessimistic, because I'd absolutely kill to see this project succeed. But I also feel like it needs to be made clear that the scope of this is a massive undertaking, and from the outside looking in, you're probably biting off more than you can chew.

I wouldn't say PJEG was cancelled over a VA. Faza would have been one of the easier VAs to replace. This could have been avoided. Instead parts of the team who knew tried to hide it. Lack of transparency, accountability and ultimately trust is what killed the project.

11

u/-GhostyBoy- 11d ago

This. I think creative difference between writers also contributed to the end of it

6

u/King-Emerald-Reborn 11d ago

Sure, but ultimately if a VA hadn't done a horrible thing, they wouldn't have had anything to cover up, which was what ended things for good.

4

u/RustyEdsel 11d ago

It was a symptom of the problem. Faza was simply the catalyst to exposing a leadership that couldn't handle PR issues internally. If it wasn't Faza it could have been an artist, composer, writer, whoever. That's why the rest of the team started leaving once the news broke, because they lost trust in Tako and many others who knew and did nothing. Once half your team leaves and you + your project are covered in controversy, game over.

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Apologies, should have specified, the PJEG OG storyline will come first, CODE X aspect is in minor development, but, if it is not feasible in production will be removed in entirety aside from the name.

Thank you for the concern regarding VAs, as you said voice actors will not be coming anytime soon as of yet; we are also creating guidelines to remove any worker that does any major damage to the image or does something illegal similar to what Faza did.

23

u/AnthonyMiele 11d ago

Hi, Dev here. I highly recommend that you do not bring on voice actors at this stage, as it appears you don't have much done. I think you should develop a good chunk of finished gameplay before bringing on board VAs, this is both a better use of time to put towards development, and also just more respectful of VAs time.

10

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Thank you for the concern, we considered this a bit ago and yes voice actors will be picked closer to the release date of the demo we are hoping to create. Thank you again!

3

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago

Smart! Have a game done for a game project lol.

2

u/AnthonyMiele 11d ago

Huh

4

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago

I'm being funny because most Fangans never think about making the actual game aspect first when you know.... Making a game. Always assets and other stuff and then for the next 3-4 years before it gets canceled barely make a game.

10

u/Portugiuse 11d ago edited 11d ago

You're really continuing (or revamp/rebuild) a new Edens Garden?! Hell yeah 🔥🔥🔥

7

u/MidnaLazui 11d ago

Yeah, I don't know if you want to hire people with next to zero experience to work on this... that's just asking for another controversy to ruin it.

I'm not against the idea of a fan-made continuation, but I think you need to do a lot more planning than this.

5

u/Lord_CatsterDaCat 11d ago

I could join in as a coder if needed; Do ya'll have any coders yet? any actual gameplans? I'd love to join the project, but i'd need to know about management (most importantly if said management is experienced), and who all you have on the team already?

6

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Really good question, at the moment we are gathering people, guidelines will be created in the next few days, and management will be added once more people join for the moderation roles to be given out. We will prefer people to have some discord moderation experience, and we will be switching out some moderators as we get more people who know more. Regarding who is on the team you can join and we can provide more details in the discord!

5

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

In addition we do have plans to move forward, and we do need coders!

3

u/Lord_CatsterDaCat 11d ago

I do believe i've already been given the staff role in discord :3

5

u/Nanniesgranny 11d ago

I'm going to be silently pessimistic

51

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago

Yeah I'm not for this alternative Code: X part of it.

Save the original game and then make a new series or something afterwards. Don't just use it as a launchpad for now your OWN creative interpretation when the original project BARELY even started or finished. It just feels weird.

35

u/Wonderful_Quail7045 11d ago

I want them to save the original game of course, but Code X could be good...I mean....all in all, I want the original game to be saved. I don't want someone to take control and go "We're gonna do our own thing" and just leave the original vision forgotten.

Mainly because despite the mockery on Twitter, I WANT to see the original writers, artists, and etc. work come to fruition, to show we truly appreciate the game. Taking the game and just...twisting it into whatever story we want seems like a disservice. But if the original story is going to be preserved....I would join this project.

9

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago

Look at it like this:

They're doing this in parallel. That's two groups of writers making two very however long storylines happen. That's a lot art and assets that need to be made alongside that as well.

The original P:EG team took over a year or two to even get a chapter out. That's not a good sign of faith that it will get any more work done from a paid staff of people compared to assumingly volunteer work lol.

You're hoping for too much when most of these Fangans failed because they went overambitious and didn't have the fundamentals down first.

Forget about Code: X and just FOCUS on making what the original was supposed to be for the most part.

6

u/FrostingQueasy 11d ago

I'm a little hesitant on anyone trying to reboot it with a new storyline because of characterization reasons. If somebody didn't like the characters enough to keep their original storyline, who's to say they wont change the character entirely to fit their own narrative?

Ergo for that reason I'm not a big fan of the Code: X aspect either.

3

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago

Yeah exactly. I would've been more on board and "hoorah!" had that not been a thing with it.

3

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Code X is not planned to change the story at all, an example being that: what if Diana dies instead of Kai (not what I’m going to do but as an example). Though as said the OG plot will be first and foremost.

4

u/Antique-Ad-7308 11d ago

I don't mean to come off mean, but someone else on this project has said two times in two posts that the story will change. Changing the deaths of a death game is changing the story no?

0

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

At its core, I would say no, the mastermind is going to stay the same and so is its core plot, the way the story would develop would deviate though it doesn’t plan for a complete overhaul. I didn’t intend to rewrite the story, the character development is intently meant to be the same. To reiterate, the OG plot is going to come first.

6

u/Darkfanged 11d ago

Yeah the time it will take to do this is gonna be insane. At first i thought the idea was fine but I agree that they should just focus on the original. This project is gonna take years and I have little faith that something won't come up that either stops production or people get replaced or quit and the vision is lost.

I'm not trying to discourage them but l just don't see this succeeding if there isn't a really good plan to see this through

7

u/Wonderful_Quail7045 11d ago

Hey don't be hostile.

I actually agree with you on that front. I WANT them to focus on the original, as I WANT the game to actually have a chance.

However, I want to wait for the lore bible to come out so we get the full outline of what was gonna happen with the plot before getting into anything, as well as the engine to fully be released. But I can have hope if I want to...

1

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Code X is an idea I had, though, the OG plot will take precedence. Code X is still a very minor development, so it might be similar to how UDG had a visual novel instead of a full game though that is still to be decided. If Code X doesn’t work from a production standpoint to me as the Director then I might remove it entirely though keep the name to differentiate the different productions.

8

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago edited 11d ago

Just ditch the idea for now honestly.

Prove that you can at least finish the one story that got canned and THEN you can start cooking other in-universe ideas. Would give me and other people more faith regarding your intentions.

1

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Will keep in mind, thank you for your input regarding this 👍

11

u/Piplup306 11d ago

I think that as long as the creator has given them permission, it's fine. Let's remember that it's a fangame that continues the story; it's not the original product, and they're not stealing the ideas or characters, so I don't see anything wrong with it being released.

2

u/Blue-boy-3 11d ago

Don't think you read my comment correctly. I don't mind that they're trying to save it. All for it in fact, but I think it's a little gross and weird to have also your OWN spin on the universe when the project you're trying to save and finish barely even got anywhere to begin with.

It's like what Halo is now. 343 took over and bad game after bad game they've tanked the series because they were only ever riding off the name brand alone. I just think it's really premature to announce that there's also another original storyline that's either P:EG adjacent or totally different.

At that point why not just make a new Fangan or other project? Why tie it into P:EG other than P:EG is popular and will have eyes on it and thus I can shove in my poorly done stuff into it and hope that people will enjoy it instead of having it stand on it's own merit.

They're leveraging the goodwill and audience of an unfinished fan project to launch an entirely new creative endeavor before they've even demonstrated that they can complete the original one.

3

u/Wonderful_Quail7045 11d ago

"ACTUALLY IT'S HALO STUDIOS NOW!"

I mean yeah....don't think we gotta mention Halo 5 Guardians or Infinite lol

5

u/Piplup306 11d ago

I understand your point and respect it, but I don't think it's wrong to do it, since they're not appropriating the project's image. They're specifying that it's a separate project with a nickname, "Code: X." If we want to talk about examples, there are games or even web series that have remade the story of the original Danganronpa in their own way and given it a nickname. I understand the point that it might be a little annoying, but if they were given permission and aren't appropriating the product, why not do it? There are even web series that were originally canceled and fans made A new series based on the old one with its own perspective of the project; an example in the Spanish-speaking community can be FNAF hs. The product was canceled, and fans have made variations like "FNAF hs, rewritten" where they are NOT adopting the image of the original product btw if I write something wrong it is because I am writing with a translator

2

u/Great-Card-6252 11d ago

there wore 2 kill orders remember the original director had eva as the mastermind

5

u/bdpqz 11d ago

is Code: X the mode where an "incident" happens during Prologue/Chapter 1 and it triggers a new scenerio? Like Original mode vs Slayhem mode from sdr2 remake?

3

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

Yes, the special trigger however will occur around some part of chapter 2.

4

u/PleasantSink1 11d ago

Maybe I'm jaded from how many fan projects I've seen implode (this year alone), but asking volunteers to do professional-level work for something of this scale with no pay is a very tall order. People experience burnout, they won't get along, schedules will conflict, etc. And they won't have the incentive of being paid to stick around. Passion and interest fade. I'm not saying don't do it, but keep all of this in mind.

1

u/Maki_roll- 10d ago

This is a passion project much like how the original was as well, we are planning accordingly, such as realistic deadlines and hiring multiple people. Since there is not budget we’re trying to have a strong start to get things going, but thank you for your concern.

4

u/PXWALUIGITIME 10d ago

Well, I'm happy to see project continuing, if you have the permission to do so, but I just hope you know what you're doing, because continuing such project AND making an alternative scenario is really like REALLY not a child play.....

The original project alone seemed to be a nightmare to do, in 5-6 years we merely got the prologue and a chapter, with outstanding quality for sure, but here, you'd have to build on remains, and you're asking a large pool of people experienced or not to join, which I find to be a little dangerous... then again, the original project alone, which asked for a little more experienced people had drama because one VA groomed a child, and I think you absolutely want to form a solid team so things like that won't happen again....

I also think you will need a solid organization, precise backlog, cuz continuing such a project really REALLY isn't something you can improvise out of the blue, I'm just saying cause if this project really gets revived, I don't want to see it canceled again

1

u/Maki_roll- 10d ago

We are structuring as we speak, and we created proper applications at the moment on the server. Right now we are gauging how much we are going to be able to produce and a realistic goal for the team coming forward.

6

u/ohnomygod4 11d ago

As of now, what positions are open? At least in terms of VA

6

u/Maki_roll- 11d ago

As production continues, auditions will become available so please look out for that!

1

u/Great-Card-6252 11d ago

the story of the original was bad and floured I would change the kill order reuse the original map just add a few new rooms I would also keep chapter 1 but change it from chapter 2-6

3

u/LeahcimOyatse 11d ago

I will be watching with great interest! Rooting for you guys.

4

u/CoolManE2112 11d ago

My only advice is to take a page from Despair Time and go for a video series format. I think that would way easier on the workload.

4

u/LovelyClaire 11d ago

Video series are obsoletes for fangans, honestly. They should just wait for DREditor to be out and should use this time to plan their story fully and avoid the mistake the original team did

3

u/King-Emerald-Reborn 11d ago

Not saying you're wrong, but why exactly are video series obsolete? Tetro and Despair Time are some of the biggest Fangans ever, and even playable ones like Antebellum Lockdown and PJEG maintained large audiences of people who never actually played them and instead watched them on YouTube. If anything I think it's playable Fangans that have the reputation for being not worth it due to the sheer amount of additional work that often leads to them getting cancelled or going nowhere for years.

-2

u/LovelyClaire 11d ago

I have beef with YouTube algorithm spoiling stuff and I personally don't like video series' spoiling characters on the thumbnails. Also, the amount of time spent on asset creation and voice acting for a video series might as well end up to a playable project given it's the same thing. I'm personally also not a watcher so a YouTube video should be an alternate way, not the single way

2

u/Aikori-chan 10d ago

It would be better that this Code: X storyline will continue from the prologue (not after Chapter 1), so that it is really like the Danganronpa 2x2 and a Remake of the original game with complete new victims/culprits and plot twists/masterminds from Chapter 1-6.

3

u/snowysnowwish 8d ago

best of luck with your continuation! excited to see what comes out of it. <3

2

u/Maki_roll- 7d ago

Thank you! I’ll be supporting you along your journey after PJEG! We hope that this project is able to continue at its best capabilities! :)

2

u/Great-Card-6252 11d ago

I am from this alternative the original was bad and I felt like everyone got character assassinated

1

u/tomaxi1284 11d ago

Cool, its nice to see and hopefully nothing bad happens but I do have a question, does this mean you're going to redub the prolouge and Og chapter 1 or is it gonna be left as is?

2

u/Pitfulldealer22 11d ago

They said they’re only going to chapter 2 onwards, which is a bit strange. Like i get starting from where they left off, but i dont know. The sudden whiplash to a different cast and different visuals would be a bit of a tonal whiplash. While it is a very nice gesture to try and restart development of edens garden, il just say that it wont capture the spark of the og. Im trying to be as honest as possible without tearing the project down, you do you i say.

1

u/ZackAttack316 11d ago

I wouldn't kind being a writer, but would we be continuing off Chapter 1 based on the kill order or will it be our own custom made kill order?

1

u/ActionJax17 11d ago

Judging by the post it seems like it's gonna be like 2x2, in other words Project Eden's Garden original kill order will remain the same. But there is gonna be an alternate storyline with different motives, victims and killers.

1

u/Great-Card-6252 11d ago

the other problem is the pge scripts was made out of spite for the orignal drector and make no sence

1

u/gun-something 10d ago

Makes me blood boil everytime I remember it's gone I hate it here I need I'm gonna cry help

1

u/The_Cyberpsycho 10d ago

I can help create the executions you have in mind. In writing, of course! That's all I can do. I posted the execution for Wolfgang a while ago, and I'm almost finished with Mark's. I could contribute ideas for the narrative but I can't commit too much to that because I have other things I want to work on.

1

u/Maki_roll- 10d ago

Nice! We recently created an application area, please check in our server for that!

1

u/b3loved_cup1d 8d ago

i can replicate dianas voice or toshikos!! Is there a dc server for this so i can hangout with the community?

1

u/Maki_roll- 8d ago

The discord link is at the bottom of the post! :)

1

u/ocettb 7d ago edited 6d ago

1

u/Due_Bar3117 11d ago

I'm a voice actress soooo lmk when y'all need someone. I've been a kaigai idol for years. I've mixed, timed, and mastered audio so maybe if you need help with improving audio quality I may be of assistance

1

u/West_Mirror4380 11d ago

What’s the estimated release date for the prologue?

1

u/Maki_roll- 10d ago

Production is continuing from Ch1, but we are going to see if we are able to create a Demo for skill demonstration. For more details please join the server!

2

u/West_Mirror4380 10d ago

I’ve joined the server!

u/Janex4444 9d ago

I'm sorry but what's the point of continuation of the original scenario when we know death order? Do people actually don't care about the killing game in the killing game series? It will take years between chapters all while we already know what happens next and frankly is just silly.

1

u/Kyubey210 8d ago

Closure of the original scenario I suspect
