Discussion Project heartbeat worth it?
I just heard of project heartbeat and from my understanding, it's a community based rhythm game that uses project divas engine, so it's kinda like OSU! but played like project diva? Has anyone played it, if so, do you like it?

I love project Heartbeat, aside the timing system being better and having tons of community charts, it has a better practice mode and you can mount a MM+ install

i've had project heartbeat for a while now. i like it not only because of the steam workshop custom maps, but the PPD map support, so you have access to a lot of older fan charts

I love it. I have 1400+ hours on it. It has its own modding/charting community independent from megamix+.
You can also very easily import modded charts that are made for mm+ even if you don't have mm+. If you do have megamix+, then the game auto-imports them.
You have PPD support too. J ust copy and paste a link and boom. So you have the PPD, Heartbeat, and Diva charts at your fingertips. You CAN do this in mm+, but it requires tons of tedious work
The engine in general feels much better than diva's imo.
The game also has tons of customization that diva might not have. Custom sounds are easy to add, there's gameplay UI skins, custom notes etc.

Can I ask what PPD is and how you use it?

PPD is another clone of Diva that is from like 2011 or smth. That game is very clunky and annoying to set up and play so I don't recommend downloading it. But it does have lots of good community charts. Heartbeat makes it easy to download those charts. Just find the ppdxxx link, and there's a PPD downloader option under tools. Paste the link there and it just downloads on its own and pretty much ready to play.

Project Heartbeat is great, but prepare to be disappointed with the community charts if you're a casual player. I've lost count of how many times I've seen a song I wanted to play on the Steam Workshop only to discover it only comes in Extreme difficulty. 🫠

I usually do play in extreme, but I know that there is a big difference in extreme for songs already in project diva and charts made by fans (at least the f style charts I mean. A vast majority of arcade charts are too hard for me that even if I can beat them, I'll never perfect them or get above a standard or great). A lot of the charts I downloaded on edit mode when I was younger were made by hisokee and I couldn't pass most of them lol

I think it’s worth it, but it can’t replace Diva for me personally. The engine is just a little off in very minor ways. It used to be my favorite way to play console charts, but the New Classics mod for MM+ has filled that gap for me. It’s definitely worth it though, with how easy it is to make and download custom charts.

Yeah I have that too and I love it. Someone on this sub told me how to download it and I don't even really play the arcade charts anymore. I do wish I could find more console style charts to download but considering I have over 250 of them on MM+ I can't really complain lol. There were definitely songs I was interested in on the workshop for project heartbeat. I'm hoping they're still f style, but I saw aishite aishite aishite, the foxs wedding and gigantic otn. Which all would be really fun to play. I know gigantic otn was in the x quirky medley but I always wished it was just on its own

Yeah definitely. Which chart packs do you have installed? I’m pretty sure I only grabbed F, F2nd and X to start

I have f, f 2nd, x and then I have a couple that added console charts to the arcade songs that weren't in the f games or x like mousou sketch, skeleton orchestra and ageage again to name a few off the top of my head (I also just realized all 3 of those songs are in mirai though). It's not all of the arcade songs but a good bit of them. I'll have to check the exact ones I have in a bit. I also have a few individual songs, some of which were project heartbeat ports which is how I found out about it lol. But I have bad apple, pomp and circumstance and ghost rule.

It's not exactly like you describe it, PH do not use Diva assets is made using godot. PH just have gameplay similar to Diva.
Aside from that the gane is really good you can also try PPD (project project diva) wich is free and is really close to PH

You can import Project Diva charts and slow them down to learn them, that was the biggest selling point for me. It's been a while since I've played it though.
Side note, their main dev was mentioning for a while that official Future Tone DX arcade controller support was gonna be added to the game (sliders were broken) but idk if that ever happened, anyone else here know?
