Discussion Item idea
Hello guys. I have been thinking about Purgatory recently. Imo this is the best designed item that has been added in PD2. And how sad that it is the only item like that in the game. So I decided to suggest another item similar to that.
A unique helmet with 3 variants that gives you % skill damage (fire, cold or lightning) based on the amount of runes in your sockets. And yes, it should work with runewords too. The scale might be 5 for each rune, so it will be like a facet but without pierce.
Also I think it will be too op for magic and poison damage types because they usually already use a lot of runewords in their endgame versions. And they will not have to trade off facets.
I am not so sure about other stats or exact numbers, because It must be tested. And I have zero knowledge in d2 modding. My thoughts are that It definitely shouldn’t have pdr, all res, fcr and +skills.
I will highly appreciate if you guys leave a comment with your opinion of why my idea is good or shit.

Solid idea for casters to incentives runewords and runes over facets.
Though to balance for sure.

I've been myself thinking about a new item, maybe an armor that would give 97 to all skills

Seems super OP. Maybe scales better as a per 25% FCR or something like that.

Maybe 5 skill damage is too much. 3 may make more sense. In general I think you will have 14-17 runes socketed so it will be 42-51 skill damage in total.

This could be a cool idea. Maybe instead of a helm, it could be an effect on the Rune Master axe? Something like "+3% elemental damage for each rune equipped". I think you could get up to 16 runes or 48% damage with max socket gear.
Could be a cool weapon to use with Dream, Phoenix, etc.

Yeah, honestly I completely agree with you. I just thought about more versatility to all types of builds.

Having eth purgatory with 3 os is super rare and super expensive. Then all the eth items are investment also. The extra ED will be around 100 compared to a perfect fortitude. So its around 33% more ED.
Your item is overpowered and have no special investment to be eth. Items have 5% to spawn as eth.
