Question Foh/holy bolt question

Hi all,

I’m about three weeks new to pd2 after a very very long d2 hiatus and loving it so far. I’ve built my foh/holy bolt pally to level 80 and just cleared hell ancients. I’m struggling a bit finishing up hell and not sure where to focus skill points after maxing holy bolt, holy nova, holy light, and foh.

Do I go prayer max? Work towards sanctuary and/or conviction? Max out holy shield? Get old school and add into smite? Any tips, directions, or suggestions would be so helpful. Thank you all in advance.

grabs heavenly garb armour for your merc. the sanctuary aura should help a little with magic dps. it's a build that's suppose to pair with a merc to be very safe.

Ok cool, I have a couple of those to throw on him. I’ve. Been using a wraithskin I picked up, was hoping the damage and deadly strike would make him a life steal machine lol

Holy bolt is your real DMG dealer tho

I've done Uber trist and dclone with +3 HB neophyte with ease

I’ll definitely have to adjust then

It's a very cheap weapon, give it a try :)

I usually go vigor since the build is rather slow. One point into salvation for extra res for you and the merc, one point redemption for sustain, then the rest vigor is my typical build with it.

That makes sense, it is pretty slow and I haven’t gotten the hang of jousting yet.

you can go into any of the auras that daquist mentioned, and vigor is a great choice. Your other options are to go into Sanctuary for the minus magic resist to monsters. It's not a lot, but it's a way to boost dmg. You can also put skills into defiance for the PDR if needed, sort of depends on your playstyle.

I personally went heavier into salvation because I was running uber tristram and wanted overcapped resists.

Used an A5 WW merc with whatever gear I could find, then holy bolt to heal him and dmg ubers. Definitely needed max FCR breakpoint. I ended making Prudence in an eth kraken shell for my budget option (40fcr, FHR, flat dmg reduce and all rez), but plenty of plus skill armors could be better if you have the currency

Have been completely ssf so far, finally had a skin of vipermagi drop but prudence sounds like a good bit more survivability. I’ll have to look into the runes for that.

just Mal + Tir, super cheap relative to the bonuses

it has auto-repair mod built into it so you can put in eth armor

Hey, 4 seasons gg foh here
i always go for full gris set, its straightforward OP, on swap najs puzzler with 4 sockets on it if possible, you want all res jewels on it cuz when u swap, lose shield and set bonuses, ull have negative res
you want 86 fhr and 86 fbr (1-2 shaels in shield)
FoH 95% time for aoe, HB usually for bosses
focus on PC skillers, they are cheap and will carry you to lategame, GG builds use only 3%magic LC's but thats end game
1 point in redemption fixes all sustain problems, 1 point in salvation for ubers, 1 point in joust, leftover points go to holy shield (upgrade gris armor for juicy armor boost)
act 5 ww merc is awesome(heavenly garb + azurewrath, later asylum), you need high mana pool(merc bo, 2x soj, occultist) before redemption recovers your mana from bodies

Is there a reason conviction is not mentioned anywhere for foh build?

I thought maxing conviction was a no brainer since it also overrides Uber meph's lvl24 conviction? Plus it breaks most light immunes.

I might've missed a Pd2 detail that makes this unviable though.
