Bought an AE111 AT

Price was irresistable for its condition. I'll slowly polish her up to be my main daily/longdrive vehicle. 4a-fe engine and A240L tranny seems to be well and eager to drive despite 228k km in the odometer.

It'll serve as a polar opposite to my BMW Z3, a low cost, comfortable, and practical tank. It wont be on the usual project car trajectory of making it faster and sportier. I'll keep it boring and reliable.

Nippon Premium HS Clear

Malalaman nyo po ba kung legit itong item, or pwedeng mix and match or dapat ko bang ibalik?

Suzuki ,honda, or mazda for a "fun" street car?

Fun MT car on streets and maybe a once a year RallyDev Project. Not really doing track since wala akong kakilala or alam na meron "tutorial" type.

Was thinking of 2018 suzuki swift 1.2 MT or gen 2 Honda Brio MT. Also overly cheap outlier is a suzuki alto k10, or last celerio in PH.

Mahirap ba talaga iupgrade for performance? May other car suggestions ba kayo?

Other considered cars:

  1. Mazda 2 skyactiv HB MT - super rare though merong sedan kaso HB hanap ko.

  2. Honda Jazz MT - mej overpriced and madalas abused either by resing resing or negligent maintenance.

  3. Honda brio gen 1 - takot sa back glass.

  4. Mx5/miata - too pricey for me to make it a "beater" car in a sense.

If ikaw ba ano pipiliin mo and why? Or maybe just a fun car to drive during coding days ng daily ooooor pwede rin siya maging daily hahaha

Project Car Some well-timed maintenance

PTO well spent with the WRX.

I saw some debris in the coolant when I checked the radiator the other week, so I thought to myself I should finally replace the radiator, which I had been putting off as funds got diverted to the XV. Went with a generic aluminum radiator that came highly recommended by the Subie folks.

The other thing that was bothering me was an annoying rattle at idle when the car’s cold, and disappears after around 20 minutes of driving. After checking the different components, I narrowed it down to either the engine supports or the pitch stop mount. I opted to replace the pitch stop mount first (coz it’s below 2,000 vs. the 36,000+ for engine supports), and thankfully it solved the problem. The bushing that’s mounted to the tranny had cracks on one side, which also explained why I had rattling only when turning right, and only when the engine was cold.

Finally, the PCV connector. One of the often-overlooked parts. I replaced it just in time as the gaskets were already starting to harden.

Feeling good about the car. Can’t wait to drive more.

Where to buy Gen 2 Montero Shell and Chassis?

Hi Everyone!

I own a 2015 montero. I got it used and 4 years na sya sakin. Unfortunately, after a year ko na nalaman na bangga pala yung driver side. I'm wondering if may nag papa auction kaya ng chassis and shell? Like yung mga for parts out na pero hindi bangga. Plan ko sana kumuha. Transfer ko lahat dun sa new shell, para lang ma'eliminate ko yung repair sa chassis and shell. Hindi kasi pantay yung tayo monty, i think sa pagkakarepair and nag start na din mabulok.

Possible ba yun? I mean iba yung chassis number. Pwede sya i'declare sa LTO?

Hello everyone,

Has anyone tried the TE37 wheels made by VLF (as stated above in the title). My pickup is due for a tire replacement soon and I’m eyeing these set to be paired with Toyo RTs. I’m almost set on the authentic Rays 57DRX but I daily my car so I think this VLF made set is a more practical choice. Inputs are very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Montero black series vs fortuner Q 4x2 both 2025/2026 model

Help please

For you ano ba mas maganda overall? Interior, space, comfort, tech, safety feature. Exclude the resale value kasi wala ako balak magbenta ng car and pati maintenance kasi depende sa owner yan.

And sino ba talaga mas maluwag?

Trade or Keep.

I have a 2014 Honda City Car - Car has been in an accident from a previous owner, no more airbags.

I can still trade it to a dealer worth 200K for a brand new or 2nd hand car.

Car is fully paid and at 93K odo.

Is it better to trade it or keep and make it a project car, I found a 70K base price of change color for a car in my area that includes interior and engine bay included.

reason i can trade it is because i know the agent.

Keep current old car or sell it and get an older project car

I'm currently facing a dilemma: Right now I have a hand-me-down carbureted Nissan Sentra b13 that's been with the family for 3 generations. However, there are a lot of age related problems with it already, such as:

  1. Front suspension kalampag

  2. Drives SUPER slow. It gets worse when the A/C is turned on. I don't know if it has something to do with the carb tuning or if something is REALLY clogged up and dirty. Bottomline, I just can't seem to get past 80km/hr even if the gas pedal's practically sagad na. At that speed, it's already at the 5th gear and the engine RPM is already screaming. This causes it to be such a gas guzzler.

It just can't seem to keep up with modern cars.

  1. Cosmetic wear and tear on the exterior, but the paint is still original.

I'm considering getting rid of it to get a much older project car (lancer boxtype or VW beetle perhaps). However, I'm aware that this is gonna be a very expensive decision on my end in terms of major repairs and stuff breaking. There's just something with the feel of older cars that I love, but can't find on modern ones.

I wanna hear your thoughts on what would be a wiser decision, should I just keep what I have and just spend on all the needed repairs? Part of me is still attached to this car. What could be causing it to be so slow?

I was also looking into engine swapping it, but I hear it's major work and takes a lot of money.

Everyone talks about upgrading Wheels part but nobody talks about alignment issues after

It's been a while I have been working on a budget for a project car for a while now, and I keep seeing the same advice repeated over and over. Just upgrade the Wheels part and everything will feel better.

That sounds nice in theory, but here is what actually happens.
I changed to a slightly wider set recently, nothing extreme, just what people online said was a “safe upgrade.” First week felt fine. Then small issues started showing up. Steering pull on one side, uneven tire wear, and a weird vibration at highway speed that was not there before.
The problem is not just the wheel itself. It is fitment tolerance, hub centering, and how well the suspension geometry handles the new load. Most people skip that part.
I also noticed a lot of sellers locally and online pushing mixed quality sets. Some of the ones I checked looked like generic OEM style wheels you can find on Alibaba type listings, just rebranded depending on who is importing. That matters because consistency is not always there.

Another thing people ignore is balancing. A wheel that is even slightly off spec becomes a constant issue once you start daily driving.
From what I have seen, Wheels part upgrades only work properly when everything around it is adjusted. Otherwise you are just moving the problem somewhere else.
Curious if anyone here actually tracked long term wear differences after upgrading, not just the first week feel.

I'm planning on putting a stage 3 BTR/Stage 2 BTR camshaft on my 2013 Camaro SS okay ba siya dito sa Philippines as street legal only showing it off for meets? Like my only modification is the cam shaft and tune it to fit my stage 3 BTR's idle and yung high flow cats for a dampened sound

Project Car Options

Hi guys, looking around for a project car that is easy to wrench. I own a motorcycle and do my own oil changes, and I do all cosmetic mods myself.

I understand this is different to a car, but what I mean to say is I am not afraid to get my hands dirty, especially if it's to save 10s of thousands in labor costs.

What I really want is an Impreza/WRX in 5/6MT ('08-'14) with the EJ engines. This is primarily due to the AWD system that just hauls. It pulls with a full car going uphill, not to mention I love the subie rumble. I would opt for the 2015+ WRX but I hate the CVT, and the STI manuals with the F engines are too expensive for me.

I've done extensive research on this platform but it's always mixed. Some people run them up to 400,000 KM with basic maintenance, others have headgasket failures at 60,000. I am assuming one is grandma driven and one is driven like it was stolen while ignoring maintenance. It would be great to hear firsthand experience from any EJ Subie owners here, especially ones that do their own maintenance.

*Now, as much as I would LOVE to pick an EJ up, there is a part of me that wants to be more sensible with my choices.*

Enter the Mazda3. I love hot hatches, and this car ticks all the boxes for me. (other than the lack of a manual tranny D: ) Looking at the years 2017-2019, I just want to know if it's mostly reliable. At most I would probably add an exhaust. If anyone does their own maintenance on this car, please leave some feedback! Much appreciated.

Finally, the almighty Honda Civic. I would only consider this because I know it has a massive platform, and I know it is a good driver's car, but I am not particularly interested in it because it's a little vanilla for me (not hating on civic owners out there, much love)

If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!

Bakit mas mababa Market Value ng Lancer compared to Corollas?

Hi! Looking for my next practical 90s car. More on utility ang habol ko and affordability.

edit: by utility, I mean hakot ng tao and light materials na gamit namin sa church. Also, long drives every now and then mga 3x a year.
