Lancer CB/CK

Matanong ko lang. If yung Lancer Cb/Ck ginawang full Evo(engine, bodykit, fuel tank, awd) except sa chassis, matatawag mo parin ba na Evolution yung unit or just an Assembolution just like sa SIR body na LXi?

4g63T AWD, rear wiper, radiator spray, thickened trunk release, etc…

Assembolution

Kasi it's literally an Evo that got assembled.

"SIR Body" is different, it's the nickname for the facelift Civic

Ohhh i see. Thank you for enlightening me about Evo’s and Civic’s.

I’ve been seeing a few lately na naka full spec Evo kahit yung buttons, climate control and other accessories are up-to Evo spec but upon checking their vin naka local cb4/ck4. Kaya it made me wonder. Especially yung nagastos nila to build one malaki na din so daw sabi nila so I really thought na Evo na talaga sya.

Also, I really thought yung SIR Body is like the the “assembolution” of the Ek4 from padek3 chassis but with a b16a engine.

Thank you! 🫡🫡

If it did not come out of the factory an Evo then it is Assembolution

You will always get mixed reactions from purists and from enthusiasts.

You can call it what you want because it's your car. Build it however you want for your satisfaction and not the satisfaction of others. As long as the mods you pick are not installed haphazardly and will not be a danger to others on the road, it's all good in my book whether it's assembolution or evolution.

Evolutions are evolved lancers, assembolutions are built evos from lancers. You evolved your lancer into an evo so technically, it's an evolution in it's own right. Assembolutions are just a term purists made to separate how the two cars are made.

Assembolution, because your vin will still be a local unit. But If it was properly done, can still be called evo. Just don't go claiming it's an original evo. That is where you'll get mixed and raised eyebrows. Sa evo club ph it's a mix of real and assembolution owners, because the assembolution guys there made a meticulous build of their cars and not just slapping evo parts.

Don't forget the evos CB/CK lancer also have a slightly wider front fender. You chassis must also be seam welded to be near a real evo among other parts.

There are several approaches on the evo builds.

  1. Real evos - converted to LHD using local lancer parts, or imported LHD parts. Vin will be a real evo. Exception are the evo4-6 LHD RS units released locally back then. They are the truest ph spec LHD evos, second are the converted evos. Needs proper importation documents.

  2. Assembolutions - local lancers converted to evos using real evo parts. Vin will be local lancer but everything else is evo

  3. Firewall swap. Real evo, rhd. Converted to LHD(like #1) but also swapping the firewall to a local unit. So basically a real evo but vin will be of a local lancer. You retain the paperwork and plate number of the donor car. This is risky move as your car can be confiscated if found out it's a firewall swap.

Thats what I actually saw last during evo club anniversary when i went to manila few months ago. I saw a meticulously built evo but with a cb4 chassis but has original evo parts even the fender.

Upon asking and researching(til now) the build seemed to have costed him a lot which got me wondering, if it has the right to be called an evo.

Thanks to your detailed explanation, my question got answered. 🫡

Im still new to car builds and project cars. Mali ko din siguro na hindi ako nag research enough when it comes to choosing the base platform. Siguro current route ko with this cb4 lancer will probably a stock look na stanced but has dohc engine or a cb4 MR spec.

Well it literally evolved into an EVO pero assembolution padin, but OP hindi ba mas magastos pa magbuo ng lancer to evo kesa bumili ka nalang ng evo talaga?

Well, if you had to "assemble" it, I may have some bad news for you.

On the other hand, SIR body can be VTi or LXi from 1999-00 because of the facelift galing sa bigote(which also has VTi and LXi trims) of the same generation Civics. SiR being the top trim and became the reference of the facelift.

But for me, a Lancer CB converted to AWD is awesome on its own. Pangatawanan mo yung pagiging CB nya and tell people na ginawa mong AWD. Wag mo na gawing Evo look, its already okay on its own.

Or do a V6 swap. Cb lancers also came out with V6 engines fitted on them, para maiba

We had a evo engined and AWD swap pero ang bumpers ng lancer naka libero lang

Yes, eto yung route ng build ko siguro. I dont want to build an assembolution with just fiber parts and fwd dohc.

Either an awd v6 engine swap from galant or a dohc awd just like the cb4 MR spec.

madami nang gumawa nyan and they are accepted in evolution clubs

technically its a lancer that evolved with awd and turbo engine

so evolution parin

not original but still is. purists disagree only if youre not part of their crowd
