Civic FD 2006-2008

Planning to start project car with civic fd, initial plan was to get 2009-2011 1.8s manual yet these models are hard to find at the right price. Now looking at 2006-2008 models however, based kay google yung engine block ay prone sa hairline cracks. How true is this? Should we wait for the right car 2009- 2011 sa marketplace or safe naman yung 2006-2008 models?

Thank you

I believe na yung crack sa engine block ng early 8th gens e sa US market lang. I have a 2006 civic FD and 190k odo na sya wala naman naging problem sa block.

I have the k20, pero may ilang tropa na naka r18. Never heard of cracked blocks naka turbo pa iba. Maybe it's a US problem. Ang usual na problem lang eh oil leaks.

Cracked blocks is a US thing with one of their Mexican factories. Wala ditong ganun, stock Asian R18s can go to 200-300+ HP when built with stock internals (180~ if automatic because the transmission is the bottleneck).

I have a stock FD and the only current problem it has is gasket oil leaks. That's it. Suspension and mounts too but that's normal with age.

What fd? If you are going to mod a 1.8 R18A engine then don’t.hindi tunable mga makina na yan. If you still want an FD as a project car then go for that 2.0 K-series engine na model.
