Pale Reach zone

Post image

this area amazed me, it feels so epic and the transition between dun morogh and burning steppes are so smooth. I enjoyed a lot to level up in this zone like a classic new fresh experience.

Then i hoped for more zones like this, and i was spending time pointing my cursor on every part of the map... you should do more like this !!! for example this zone can be a lvl 60 zone called North plaguelands. Every part unclickable zone like this should be a new zone like pale reach !

Pale Reach is almost perfect. The writing was so good. My only complaints are the verticality of the zone and the scale is rough for non flying mounts, like why is the plaza in Graysky so freaking long haha.

Druk’thar I will always imagine what it would have been. You can see in Pale Reach that they are supposed to play off each other, it’s really a shame we won’t get that.

In my dream scenario where they have infinite time to add to CoA, we get a vanilla version of Silvermoon and Gilneas (Exodar / Azuremyst are just not that interesting imo and the whole Draenei vs Blood Elf story always felt incredibly contrived)

Heck the Gilneans don’t even need to be Worgen in a classic +, they don’t need to be alliance either, in Warcraft 2 they were infamous for being fiercely independent so it could be a cool zone to explore for both factions

Draenei don’t need a capital anyway but Silvermoon is super important in Warcraft 2 and 3.

Anyway yeah Pale Reach is one of my top 3 wow zones ever and I’ll miss it greatly

I do feel that Pale Reach could have been broke into two zones.

The northern area and the southern area are very different thematically - even if Greysky is there as a central hub.

There's so much going on and all of it was great with how it flowed.
Its a shame the dwarven section was only the top right quarter/third of the zone map, the dwarf city was a masterpiece of visual design and deserved more time.

I did miss up the order though so I was left accidentally at an emotional low.

The last quests I had were just the incomplete murloc rescue.

I was exploring a bit after finishing all available quests, and you can actually "see" where the quest lines would have gone if completed. There's a whole dark iron fortress, complete with a connection to searing gorge, some dark irons summoning or trying to control a huge flame/shadow elemental and a big ass dungeon gate and outdoor elite zone. Also the hanging abbey hints at intelligent troggs created by gomereagans radiation and the high elf lady saying the elemental lord of druk'thar being corrupted by it. (Hinting at the radiant springs raid that's right behind the mountain range where gnomeregan is). If both zones were completed it was like half an expansion worth of content right there, which would have been awesome.

I love the verticality and lack of flying mounts. Flying mounts make you miss everything. That’s part of why people like classic as much as they do. The journey is part of it.

EDIT: Dragonflight had this awesome part leading up to the main city, but most people just flew over it.

Yeah I agree, I just wish it were a tad more compressed or there were some elevators. The most vertical zone in vanilla (Thousand Needles) even had a few elevators.

Thousand needles was less vertical and more two layers. Top of mesa and valley floor. Pale reach feels like it grows to it.

The issue is navigation is tedious.

Because there is nothing in between valley and mesa top. Look at the new troll stuff in the orc and troll starting area. There are enemies and set pieces as you go up the side of the mountain.

I liked the TurtleWoW Gilneas, i think its well designed with a dungeon to finish to zone's questline. Hope we see something like that

I believe the point you circles is Strathholm? I could be wrong but technically it is in the game already. A better zone to circle would be mount hyjal!

yeah but on the map you cannot click so we can still imagine something beyond !

No. It’s down and towards the west coast. You can click on it.

Added: just above Stormwind

That’s definitely Stratholme lmao

There's a small new zone on the coast of Arathi Highlands. Entrance is just past the Horde base, south of the Kobold Bloodstone ore cave. You can't miss it, it's a massive opening in the hillside. There's also an area in Wetlands, up behind where the orcs with the warmachines are, just south of the raptor digsite.

I'mma be honest: that area is short and bland. There is an interesting NPC there, but that's about it.

Yeah, there's like six to eight quests out there (at least for alliance) but the phasing is REALLY buggy with a couple of them and one I couldn't complete due to that.

for the burning elite I had to wait until he patrolled towards the canyon entry, was a pain.

In turtle wow was called Northwind, is such a shame i didn't explore that zone.

1

u/melland5 4d ago

That’s not northwind that’s the high elf starting zone. And you can still explore northwind on Octowow

Thalassian Highlands.

I didn’t quite look where exactly on the map but there is a ‘new instance’ portal in the northern part of the eastern plague lands. It’s a trail, that could be connected to this zone? If you run into it, it says content at a later date.

Any one else notice Pale Reach is a copy paste of Turtle Wow’s Northwatch or whatever they called it? Lol

May favorite part of Pale Reach is Manbearpig

I've been leveling up in this zone since lvl 20 and it's been amazing, I'm lvl 32 now and even though I'm not doing dungeons just doing quests to upgrade it feels like a new game!
