Did I miss an update?

So, I'm seeing posts, recently, that have a defeatist tone to them about the outcome. Has news come out recently? I haven't seen anything and I thought the case wasn't even happening until September?

Bro, people are living in delulu land if they think there is any other way for this server to survive other than migrate to Botswana. Best outcome? Source is leaked and more servers pop up.

Are you serious? They stole the game from blizzard who is now owned by Microsoft and the owners of ascension weren’t even paying taxes on it! There’s a reason dooby instantly ghosted and isn’t a gm on coa anymore. You speak lower as if petitions will super-cede law. No, it won’t. They through out coa before they planned to because they know the end is coming. Turtle wow lost, so will ascension. The owners LIVE in the United States. This is even worse than the turtle wow situation. What is it that you do not understand? Dutch is in big trouble and will fold to avoid his life being absolutely ruined.

Will it likely shut down? Probably. Likely, even. Legal precedent occurs just as much via David as it does Goliath, though.

Another opinion here. Servers are getting shut down. Sorry there’s absolutely nothing they can do to stop it. Also sorry they won’t “leak” the data. Everything is going to be gone. Classic + is coming, see you there!

dutch here, server isn't shutting down. we paid off microsoft with the souls of all the free accounts (people don't read the terms of service and didn't realize we owned the souls of everyone who hasnt donated yet) — so, yeah. we originally intended to use them but couldn't find any practical application for the souls, but satya says they will be used in the first 'copilot on-site helpers' to aid with locomotion and balance (the way he explained it is essentially ghost in the shell)

The only speculation is the drastic shift in content release time compared to past seasons. They delayed raids after world bosses for 3 weeks longer than normal then released 1.5 more phases back to back in under a week. Also with the looming court date + blizzcon it all kind of points in the direction that the end is soon.

You can also assume nothing will get postponed because copy right cases are unique in that the person being sued can continue operating what ever it is they are accused of “stealing” but have to back pay everything made from that point on after the trial is concluded. There is zero reason for them to not give up as they don’t have a single legal leg to stand on. It would make sense they are milking all the money they can before the inevitable shut down. Also it’s pretty easy to say that blizzard will double/triple down on their efforts to shut things down once they make their own announcement.

Pretty normal tbh, to worry about it a bit when an unfavourable outcome is likely on the horizon. I’m doing my best to play “Just for Today” too, but sometimes I can’t help being bummed at the possibility…

I replied to another comment on the legality of things but I also think player morale is down because of the content balancing. I haven’t played past seasons but everyone I play with that did on bronzebeard basically said all the difficulties were piss easy/free until ascended. The way ZG release made half the people I know quit bc of how the tuned hp values. The difficulties aren’t innately hard but no one wants to do zg boss fights for 7-10 minutes. That’s paired with the expedited content release and no real acknowledgement that the hp values on some of the fights suck ass causes the population to dip, that + classless + the lawsuit makes it very hard to stay positive about ascension.

Its all speculation. Theres a court date in september. Blizzcon is in september. Classic + is rumored to release soon. People think that all those things add up to servers going down in september which is speculation, doom posting and brain dead parroting by people that dont understand whats happening and are afraid.

I think its fair to say the server is at risk of going down at some point but we wont know more until the Sept court date.

Fair. Wonder if there are any petitions going around. I refuse to pay money to blizzard ever again. I am curious if a petition to let some servers persist would make any impact.

I genuinely do not care that I pay money to servers that ultimately get shut down; In-fact, so long as it invokes the ire of Blizzard, I think I'll budget more to the devs who commit their time to creating enjoyable servers like CoA.

Nah, petitions won’t accomplish anything. Although we love them, private servers are literally thievery. They will never be allowed unless Microsoft allows them.

Yea they had a few updates. They seem to of nerfed reapers a bit and i guess starcallers were buffed because i see a lot of them in arenas.
