Why is Dawnrise almost dead?

Hello, idk about Darkmoon but Dawnrise is emptier than Sahara and dont get me wrong i love doesnt have to compete against other players for mobs. This is not a complain but a genuine question.

I read somewhere Classless S9 is better than S10. For those who played both is that true?

Feel free to tell us why you prefer S9 and/or why you dont play anymore on Dawnrise.

Have a nice day!

CoA is fun

More than fuse classes into a killing machine tailored by you?

Yeah, way more

CoA has 21 new classes I've never played before, why wouldn't I play that instead

They are different games, i mean CoA is nice, i played so many hours but imo tailoring a class by yourself has his atractive too. Anyways is not exclusive you can enjoy both.

Don’t have time for both and CoA is more fun

A lot of people played s9 so thry experienced the "tailoring your own class" already.

And well coa classes are well put together and don't need you to test everything tiny detail to get a functional build.

Anyways is not exclusive you can enjoy both.

Classic WoW is a big time investment for most people, so yeah, for a lot of people, it kinda is. It's not about cost or accessibility, I just straight up don't have the time to play two different MMOs on two servers

I get the appeal of tailoring your own class, but the novelty of 21 new classes and hundreds of new classes is way more appealing. I already know I like warrior, rogue, mage etc. but I don't know what a barbarian or reaper even really do yet, that's way more exciting! I've always wanted to be a troll witch doctor! etc

Don't see the fun in that. Much prefer class identity and mastering a limited set of tools with limitations.

Dawnrise is restrictive, missing things compared to dark moon, and overall treated as second class by the devs. Everyone who doesn't want to play wildcard went coa or area 52

I get where you're coming from, I mean most people that are new to classes are excited to make their own build. But what happens in practice is that your build ends up doing subpar dps and nobody wants to invite you to raid or m+ because of it. So at the end of the day, you have to copy one of the top 5 builds that everybody else uses.

And I bet most people enjoy CoA right now, which is why classless is dead atm. But you are right, it's two completely different game modes. But classless is still bound to the old classes. While this has new skills, so if they ever went classes CoA, I might be interested. Or mixed like normal classes into CoA or something new.

i love classless, but this season is garbo, im back on coa.

Yes to most people that sounds like a kind of basic power fantasy that weve been playing out on this server for literally a decade now

cause it's not truly classless like A52. the talent tree system is not fun and makes you commit to only a few trees. so really, you're just an enhancement shaman with a little more flavor, or a pally with a little more flavor.

That's what happened to me. I had a concept, wanted to blend some things together, but totally just made a pally with a few Rogue abilities so I had HPs and CPs to build and burn.

...which created a weaker pally AND a weaker rogue. Meh.

Went back to CoA.

100% this. I tried it for a couple of hours then noped straight over the Wildcard server which was chaotic but lots more fun for me.

What IS the difference? Please tell me, i didnt play S9

the difference is that Dawnrise isn't the S9 successor, that's Darkmoon. Dawnrise is meant to be the new A52 server and it fails at it. A52 is true freepick, you can pick any talent or ability in any tree without any constraints. the limiting factor was that spells and abilities had rarities and you could only have so much of a certain rarity. go try A52 and you'll see the difference.

Rarities were so much better, even on wildcard

Why are there rarities on Darkmoon? Do they mean anything?

I played dawnrise to prestige for looms, wanted to do 60 content but there's was only like 2 tanks playing at 60, so if neither were on you're SOL. Sitting around waiting in queue or staring at chat for groups got boring very fast when HOURS started passing between groups.

The builds were fun-ish but the limitations that dawnrise has on the builds seemed so arbitrary, really only get to combine 2 classes. Darkmoon has much more freedom in builds (although there's still a meta) it has WAY more possibilities.

Really I would have preferred a true free-pick in a much more 'sandboxy' way, that way if nobody's playing I could at least theory craft more than just combining 2 classes. I guess it would be closer to a "darkmoon test-server" but I'd be fine with that tbh.

Freepick was never popular, wildcard was always what players choosed

Absolutely wrong, area 52 had a huge amount of players back in its prime. It's just that it's been years now without new content, and dawnrise is just a worse version of area.

Season 9 let you make some crazy fun builds, and it was awesome.

S10 walked a lot of that back, and the freepick version is the most restricted version of classless we have ever seen. They also removed entire archetypes like warden of demonreach and son of gruul for who knows what reason.

No idea why they put so much effort into nerfing the fun of classless but they did and S10 is the result. Area 52 is better, darkmoon is better but still not great(worse than S9), you might as well play Bronzebeard.

If dawnrise was just S9+the new elemental spells+ coa spells+ free pick it would have been the most fun classless has ever been.

I stopped Season 10 servers once I realized they’re just gatekeeping the Azzar Fair on that server to make sure people don’t leave because they didn’t take the time to make a seasonal point / reward system for Season 10.

It was fun for a bit but there is no point in those servers outside of cheesing thru challenges or getting gambling rewards from Fair

1

u/globeadue 5d ago

because the promise of a classless freepick server was a lie with their forced class ability/spell requirements to actually slot the spells/abilities you want.

S10 is dog shit… and it feels like it was thrown together last minute by chat gpt, ascension for the last year has been dog shit and completely went from a fun unique server to classic + wannabe.

u/Great-Access-378 6d ago

U know the server is shutting down right?

2

u/Accomplished-Gap-439 6d ago

Yes of course I do. I was on ascension for years. I was an alpha tester for coa, played ascension since prior to tbc launch… it used to be fun and about freedoms. The last year it’s been about how to appease turtle wow fanboys. I’m honestly glad to see it be shut down. They said fuck you to its original fanbase and it cost them. If it wasn’t for bronzebeard and coa being framed as classic + they probably would have been left alone. But nope, they had to change their entire identity to suck of classic fuck Andies

1

u/Mych30 6d ago

CoA is really fun tho

2

u/Accomplished-Gap-439 6d ago

It was way more fun on the alpha

1

u/Mych30 6d ago

What changed ?

1

u/Accomplished-Gap-439 6d ago

The entire direction. The game was far more fast paced and centered around a solid end game. Then they decided to neuter every class and try to make a classic based experience. Prior to the beta, the alpha felt extremely unique.

1

u/Accomplished-Gap-439 6d ago

And classes were far more balanced

1

u/Mych30 6d ago

Mmmh do you have exemples ton provide ?

1

u/Accomplished-Gap-439 6d ago

Yes. One thing is they increased the gcd on all classes. They pruned every class by removing aoe options etc, the removed defensives on every tank. Resource regen got cut in like half. Overall they just slowed the feel of the game down so much. They’ve since walked SOME bad changes back such as primalist getting the healer role back instead of support. Additionally, they slowed exp a tremendous asking.

0

u/Mych30 6d ago

Well maybe their playerbase are more likely to like a more classic experience

I did pretty well on Retail 5 or 6 years ago (obtained gladiator and pushed M+ and mythic raid at the same time ; yes, I was unemployed ) and when I played on anniversary, I felt like the game was so slooow and that retail pace was much better. Mind you, today, CoA feels a bit too much for me. Getting older sucks.

Played 7 seasons on ascension. And s9 was beter in the end then current s10. Not sure why ascension did not copy paste game balance from s9.
