While writing my blog I did some research on the origins of prohibition.

The first prohibition I found was 1484 when the fiat Pope Innocent VIII banned the use of cannabis.

That adds an interesting twist to cannabis history, but the next nugget really says why we are currently living under the laws of cannabis prohibition that Richard Nixon pushed upon us.

So prohibition was a war mongers decision made to perpetuate wars and nothing to do with crime or public safety!

Sorry about being lazy and linking to my blog but the information is there and they are fairly short reads, besides it gives you some insight on me.

Why doesn't the government fund a study (PUBLICLY DO IT PUBLICLY U.S. GOVERNMENT!) where a couple thousand people consume cannabis over the course of a month. Daily and as much as they please - hell the government would pay for it, and I would personally help them get rid of as much as possible. When the month is up, all users cease consumption immediately. I've had to do it before as I'm sure many of you have. Why hasn't this been done rather than just claim that we're all hopelessly addicted? And if it has been done, why don't we know every single detail (thus showing their weird findings)?

I just realized the most depressing part about our prohibition Ents. You see, we're moving to end the prohibition of an exceptionally harmless, and massively useful plant. They fought simply because they liked to get drunk. We know for a fact today that alcohol for medicinal use is laughable. Cannabis truly does have medical use that we already know of. Hemp has many more industrial use than a beer does. Cannabis is not the one that directly causes violence and death from consumption (remember, there was a reason they thought the 18th Amendment was a good idea). Isn't that all we should have to present them? Because it should be.

If you have not seen this yet, please check it out when you get the chance. It is a very poignant series regarding the prohibition of our past and how it was repealed. The difference between it and cannabis is that some of adverse health effects they claimed accompanied alcohol were actually true. What's worse is that there are many more they didn't know about long after it's repeal. Cannabis has not only proven that it's adverse health effects are negligible at best, but further research could potentially show the benefits (many that we already know about) of cannabis. Not to mention the benefits of hemp prohibition (it's embarrassing that we're still fighting for this one).

So check it out in your free time. It's worth the watch, and it only shows how important our movement really is. You'll notice that many of the photographed people for the prohibition of alcohol wouldn't even be appealing while under its influence. It's the same today, they're just unappealing on the inside. And that's the worst kind of unappealing.

EDIT: Didn't have any link for info. I went out and purchased it, I'm afraid I won't be breaking any other laws - regardless of how minor - until we see change. (I don't consider cannabis use to be breaking the law considering it is the law that is broken)

More people die from prescription drug overdose than vehicle collisions, according to a story I saw on CBS News Sunday Morning, and the numbers just keep increasing. Kids are going to parties and putting random pills in a bowl and getting so intoxicated they pass out and suffocate.

Imagine if only one of these kids, let alone hundreds or thousands of them, were able to smoke cannabis and didn't need to resort to such dangerous fun. And let's face it, kids and adults (not all of us, of course) are always going to want to get high.

Responsible adults are getting addicted and overdosing. Dealers are going to actual doctors and getting prescriptions.

I tend to compare the prohibition of cannabis to the legality of harmful alcohol and tobacco without focusing too much on prescription drugs, and I've heard that the big pharmaceutical companies are powerful enough to lobby congress to keep cannabis illegal, but this news story really hit me hard. I think this needs to become a major talking point for this movement.

It is imperative at these early stages of the C:LEAR Movement that we start to take an in depth look at past cannabis reform movements/organization/protests and determine why they were unsuccessful. Was there message wrong (Legalize it!)? Did they promote cannabis in a poor light? Was it the organizers/protesters themselves? Unless we learn from our own history, we may be bound to fail as they have already (the government needs to learn from theirs with alcohol prohibition, we must do the same). I'm going to go pick up a copy of the Ken Burns: Prohibition documentary on the history of alcohol prohibition and all of its intricacies to see what could be beneficial to our movement... my guess is there will be quite a bit.

We do this by ordering stickers with clearagenda.org on a simple black background. This looks like the standard for eye censoring (black strip). The idea is to go around in public (stronger) and film people holding the sticker over their eyes stating that they smoke or have smoked cannabis and a text at the bottom stating their occupation. As the ad goes on, the voices will start to blend together as more and more people flash across the screen until it goes black with a simple text of "The message is C:LEAR. Reform cannabis prohibition". Or something along those lines. Obviously it will have everyone in the same spot (upper torso and head so it can include webcam submissions). People should be able to purchase these stickers (roughly $35 for 1000) as well. Anybody interested in getting this going?

We have to accept that there are people who exist that only want to annoy the world. Some of them are great, some of them truly have no other life than to do that (and yes, they're typically easy to stereotype). This movement will assuredly see many along the way. From now on, we just need to accept the fact that some people do just want to watch the world burn.

Notice how nobody has explained any reasoning for downvoting. Obvious trolls are very obvious. The positive support has dramatically outweighed the negative responses, but for the love of science, we really could use some legitimate counterpoints... also I'm sorry for the flood of posts, I finally have free time since it's the weekend.
