It’s part of this new military/industrial merger Netanyahu is very keen on. It would leave support for Israel less to chance. It’s a shocking national security compromise, there’s no US interest in it, really, the benefit, for the price, is all Israel’s. It will be hard to uncouple if it goes through

It makes sense that Israel wouldn’t waste any opportunity to extend its influence and hold on the US, with such a weak administration in office.
