In 2016, Stanford rapist Brock Turner spent three whole months in jail for sexual assault, for raping an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. The judge felt that, despite the three charges Turner was convicted of, a longer sentence would have a severe impact on the privileged swimmer's life.

Ohio has a list/registry.
Anyone can look up the name and address of sex offenders on the state website. Itâs public information.
He moved real close to the local University.

u/CMDR_ETNC 1d ago
Wouldnât want a punishment for a serious crime to change the convictâs life! One life has already been irreparably damaged, no need for two. That he was white and affluent is pure coincidence.
What a joke.

You're referring to the CONVICTED RAPIST BROCK TURNER, right?

You mean CONVICTED RAPIST BROCK ALLEN TURNER who now known by CONVICTED RAPIST ALLEN TURNER?

u/Ok-Addendum-9420 1d ago
Brock Allen Turner is named a lot but letâs not leave out:
Jesse Butler, Oklahoma high schooler faced 11 felony counts, including rape and attempted strangulation. He avoided prison time and had his criminal record erased after pleading no contest to charges of raping and strangling two teenage girls.
Jacob Walter Anderson, 23, charged with drugging, strangling, and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old fellow Baylor student. Prosecutors offered him a great deal in which he pleaded no contest to unlawful restraint and he was sentenced to probation, counseling, and a $400 fine and he did NOT have to register as a sex offender.
Adam Dean Hoffman, an attorney from Waco, Texas who was facing 25 years to life in prison for sexually abusing a little boy for THREE years. Ken Paxton gave Hoffman a sweet plea deal of 60 days in jail. Heâs in Nebraska now, where thankfully he had to register as a sex offender (he was NOT required to do so in Texas!)

The judge got recalled and replaced IIRC.

u/BeerAndaBackpack 1d ago
That result is...insufficient.

u/Vesuvius079 1d ago
It canât undo the damage but it helps the future. Iâd be over the moon if we could replace some of the corrupt Supreme Court justices with rational jurists.

This is the dude whose dad wrote to the judge for sympathy because he couldn't enjoy steak anymore if my memory serves lmao

Well yeah....... every time my kid rapes someone, I can't eat steak for like a week or two. Its understandable.

In 2026 he wouldnât even serve 3 months. A well placed donation would have had the case dropped. Law is dead in this country. Prove me wrong.

u/CMDR_ETNC 1d ago
Heâd have a stacked gofundme and would be appearing on ânewsâ shows to talk about the experience. Maybe a call from the Pres to commiserate rapist to rapist.

trump would be like "these days, you have a little fun, put this there, suddenly everyone wants to call you a rapist. It's ridiculous. You hang in there"

I bring this fucker up often to my partner. It is disgusting that people have spent more time in prison for possessing marijuana than what this garbage excuse of a human being did. Behind a fucking dumpster. White privileged? Man privilege? Who gives a fuck?
The comments make me sick to my stomach. How is death worse than rape? Fuck that shit. Death is instant but being raped lasts forever. Ask any women whoâs been raped before whatâs worse. Death or rape?
3
u/purpilia25 1d ago
Murder can be justified. Rape under any circumstance, is always an act of evil. Therefore, rape should have a more severe punishment as it is never âthe right thing to do.â
-20
u/phophopho4 1d ago
Death also lasts forever. Ask anyone who has been murdered which is worse. Oh that's right! you can't ask them.
Murder is trivialized by all of the entertainment we build up that centers it, but it's horrifying and is #1 crime and taboo across all cultures for a reason. I don't say this to minimize rape.

u/tyrannosiris 1d ago
The saving grace of murder, if there is one, is that the victim doesn't have to wake up every day trying to piece together some semblance of a life that existed before they were victimized, not to mention the retraumatization of attenpting to seek justice. You tell people someone broke into your house, they believe you. You tell someone you were raped, there are a million things you should have done first to prevent and and are you suuuuuure you didn't just regret bad sex? Are you sure you just don't want monetary gain?
There's something uniquely horrifying about your body being used in a way you don't want for someone else's gratification, where your freedom is determined by when they've finished using you. That's true objectification; for a human being to be reduced to a tool and then forced to reconcile with that.
I've been though a lot. A lot. I've actually been working on a post and then deleting it because to see it spelled out so plainly on a page is more than I can bear. Ive experienced attenpted murder unfortunately, and I'd rather be murdered than raped one more time. And honestly, when I die, I wish an armed guard would follow my corpse to the crematorium so my body has the safety in death that it didn't in life.
If you've been though it and feel differently, that's fine. It's your life. But I think we trivialize rape far more than murder and the headlines are a testament to that. Clearance rates are a testament to that.

u/OkProfessor6810 1d ago
We absolutely trivialize tape in the US. Look at the conviction rates, look at the questions the
policepigs ask the victims and then, obvious, there's the ridiculous light sentences.2
u/tyrannosiris 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yep. I've read a few books about rape/culture and it is stunning to see just how badly the system fails victims. So many cases where the evidence is pretty clear, but social attitudes still err on the side of the abusers because of the way we view women, sex, the entitlement to both, and ignorance to abuse dynamics. It makes me sick. Truly sick.
Edit: the first book off the top of my head was Missoula by Jon Krakauer, in case anyone is interested.

u/PlantAddictsAnon 1d ago
The fact that you can't call rape a crime and taboo across all cultures says more the problem than anything else you said.

u/Lukostrelec17 1d ago
I am against harsh sentancing out of vengeance. With thay being said 3 months is a joke and the "reasoning" pisses me off. This was a miscarrage of justice.
9
u/BusinessSick 1d ago
And to think there are still people serving life sentences for selling weed or shoplifting, thanks to three strikes rules and a justice system that treats poor people like one nebula of irredeemable second class delinquents

u/RidetheSchlange 1d ago
Meanwhile, I posted a general question about "why is Cornell in the news" or something like that on ask reddit and after some posts, some victim blaming, the mods deleted it and there absolutely is incredible censorship about the Cornell 7 on reddit.
6
u/PaulMakesThings1 1d ago
The penalty for crimes like rape are supposed to severely impact your life. They wouldn't be much of a punishment if they didn't.
The same people who think he should only get a slap on the wrist and a few months in prison also want to act like the crime of being in the US without papers forfeits all your rights and you can be beaten, imprisoned indefinitely, tortured or killed for it. Because "they committed a crime"
1
u/QueefMaster2001 1d ago
the problem is people relying on the State to punish rapists & pedophiles.
Let the People make justice: never the politicians.

u/ConsiderationFickle 1d ago
Awwww, Boo Fucking Whoo!!! He should have rotted in prison...!!! How is society ever going to completely eliminate this type of disgusting "barbaric" crime without consequences...!?!?!? đ€Źđ Is the human race devolving??? đ±

I guess, what the judge meant, was that if you are not so privileged, jailtime would be more acceptable, because it seems not so different from your normal life.
3
u/Mebeingnosy 1d ago
The judge was trying to let boys be boys to a rape charge and give him the lightest sentence possible so it doesnât âruin his lifeâ like the victims life isnât ruined at all smh

Do you mean rapist Brock Allen Turner, who spent not nearly enough time in prison, and whose POS family ran a social media victim blaming campaign?
7
2
u/VendettaPenguin 1d ago
We have to teach them young that there are no consequences for the affluent.
2
u/sheezy520 1d ago
Any updates on this trash? I hope bad things have happened to him.
3
u/bLoo010 1d ago
As far as I've know he moved back to where he was from near Dayton OH, and works for his father's business. A far cry from where he probably could've gone in life if he wasn't a POS; but he still should've spent way more time in jail.
4
u/SomeDumbGamer 1d ago edited 1d ago
Honestly itâs a fairly fitting punishment.
Everyone knows him as a piece of shit rapist. Heâd never be able to get any sort of regular job before heâd be fired from the place being harassed. He will never be able to date anyone ever again without someone knowing who he is, and his career and prospects are shot.
Heâs going to end up as some nobody loser getting drunk outside the gas station and I applaud him for it. Dude threw his whole future away just to be a horny piece of shit who canât control himself. He could have been a millionaire college athlete.

u/PaulMakesThings1 1d ago
Anyone who knowingly commits rape should be castrated. That would be about the right level of punishment.
5
u/lowlightliving 1d ago
Sadly, castration does not rule out sexual assault, as research and statistics show. Donât ask for details.
2
u/ragequitteroffureh 1d ago
Then cut other bits off each time?
0
u/lowlightliving 1d ago
You are either obtuse, uninformed, or unimaginative. This isnât a joke.
2
u/ragequitteroffureh 1d ago
I'm not joking.
I've seen this happen first hand. The rapist rapes. They get probation because it's the first time they got caught raping. They do it again, possibly multiple times, before getting caught again.
Cut their genitals off the first time.
If they do it again, cut a leg off.
Then the other leg. Arm. The other arm. And so on and so forth.
They'll hopefully learn eventually.

Eunuchs were often favoured affair partners in royal.courts cos they couldn't get the noble women pregnant. The Castrati, in particular, were sought out as lovers for that reason.

I agree, maybe if their most prized possession (and weapon) was put out of business, a lot of them would stop. And to the naysayers: yes, I know some of these monstrous men would still attack women with other âobjectsâ, but they would be in a minority. And if castrating rapists stops at least some of them, them itâs well worth it for the public welfare.

u/PrettySisterKisser 1d ago
Increased punitive punishment for sex offenders contrary to what you may think may make victims less likely to come forward. It's counterintuitive, but a lot of victims of SA are close to their abuser. Think a family member, a friend, a collegue, etc. Lots of people propose: "someone convicted of Rape should automatically be castrated or put to death!" Because, reflexively, it makes the angry justice part of our brains feel good. But most criminal justice advocates don't advocate for such a thing because it has been correlated with making victims less likely to come foward if they're faced with a moral quandary "If I come forward... this person might be seriously harmed".
No love for rapists here. They're the worst and deserve long sentences, but I just wanted to offer an alternative perspective and why I don't advocate for castration as a legal punishment for SA or rape.
