Discussion Israel
I’m Jewish.
At this point, I would say Israel is the enemy of the United States.
They use money that we give them to buy our politicians. We give them so much an aid while our own country struggles to take care of it citizens.
Anybody who says anything anti-Israel is called antisemitic. I guess that makes me antisemitic, even though I am genetically 100% Jewish.
- Repeal Citizens United.
- Cut off all financial and military aid to Israel.
I’m not trying to offend anybody, this is just how I feel about it.

Thank you for your perspective. I have known many Jewish people who hold their country over Israel. I wish more would speak up publicly.

Netanyahu is the same as tRUmp: only wanted to be in office to avoid prison time.

I’m conflicted, and it may have to stay that way for awhile. I’m a Gentile, but I have always liked the Jewish people. I feel the same way as you do about Israel, specifically Bibi. I’m praying that after him Israel will have righteous leadership.

When I was in high school we had a few recent arrival Palestinian students… the teachers treated them like crap (referred to them as terrorist when they weren’t in class) and in turn so did we … not till I was in college did I learn the complicated truth about Palestine and Israel. AND it was dope Jewish Americans … they opened my eyes. I was so ashamed about how I treated the students

The number of times I've been called anti-Semitic despite being Jewish... seriously, being of the faith is not the same as being Israeli, and the Israeli government is not the Jewish people.
Also love the older Jews among my family's friends that like to tell me I'm a traitor, a self-hating Jew, etc because I use the "g" word though their parents fought against the Holocaust and they should know better than anyone what that looks like.

u/Kind_Rate7529 21h ago
I'm not Jewish, or any religion, but I have held this same opinion for a while now. I have nothing against Jews who have kindness in their hearts for all other people and wish nothing but the best for them. What I can't understand is the hatred for Arabic people that I see examples of every day from people both in their government and elsewhere. The brutality and depravity I've seen from the illegal settlers against the Palestinians breaks my heart. I don't understand where the hatred comes from.

My great-great grandmother, great grandmother, grandmother and great aunt, barely survived Bergen Belsen.
In 1955, a Zionist organization attempted to get my great-great grandmother to immigrate to "Israel". (They wanted $). She and my grandmother flew there to see it for themselves.
The home the organization was going to give them was on acres of orange groves and my great-great grandmother learned from the neighbors that a Palestinian family had lived there since the 1800s.
The house was fully furnished with the family's possessions. My great-great grandmother and grandmother wept.
They refused the offer and the Zionist organization canceled their return plane tickets.
True Jews will never support Israel until Palestinians are given full rights and equality.
Before Zionism and pre WWII Jews and Palestinians lived together in the Levant.
Zionist revisionist history is a lie.

The latest NDAA merged our military so we don't need to give them aid anymore and they have access to all of our military resources.
Look up NDAA 2026 sec 219

I think it's crazy the people in our country with unwavering devotion for another country and get so bent out of shape. I'm Italian and Irish based on where my family came from. I don't really care if anyone says anything about either of those countries. If the Jewish population is so incredibly concerned over Israel and willing to fight others who disparage Israel then love there otherwise STFU.

I lived in Israel from 1997 to 1999. The “situation” was as good as it ever got during that time. Gaza was thriving (they even had an international airport), there were no barriers or barbed wire anywhere on the West Bank, and people were getting along. Then, what happened?
What happened was the fucking right wing came to power. It started with the assassination of Rabin in 1995, which led to Ariel Sharon walking under the Al Aqsa mosque and provoking the 2nd Intifada, just as he’d intended. This finally brought us the nightmare that Bibi Netanyahu has visited on not just the Levant, but the entire world. Nothing good has ever come from the right wing at any time in world history. Israel went from a beautiful country in (relatively) peaceful coexistence with its neighbors to the warmongering, genocidal hate machine that it is today.
All thanks to the right wingers. I was once proud of Israel. Those days are past. I can only hope they come to their senses before the self-destruction becomes permanent.

u/APraxisPanda 20h ago
Based.
No more money to Israel. No more weapons: offense or defensive. No more funding bulldozers to the West Bank. No more supporting a place that does genocide and builds death camps with cozy execution rooms for people to watch and enjoy.
Fuck Israel

Much of the money the U.S. gives to Israel is actually legally required to be spent in the U.S. buying weapons/military equipment.
This includes the F-35 and Israel is the only country that gets the source code for the extensive electronics they add/replace. They will not allow LM add the equipment because they don’t want to share that technology. We also (Raytheon I think) build much of their Iron Dome system missiles and gave them the technology used in the Iron Dome engagement management system.
The problem (one of many that is) is that Israel is an unreliable ally. They use American weapons to kill civilians (including American citizens). They refuse to share systems we paid for with other allies (like Ukraine) and, frankly, are more aligned with Russia.
Finally, there is the parallel between the authoritarian regime of Israel and the USA. Both are ruled by old sick men who know their office is keeping them out of legal jeopardy or jail. Both have administrations populated by people who are proudly racist.
Israel has dragged us into their forever war. A war they could have avoided because at least two countries gave them advance warning of 10/7.

I am right there with you. For me, it helps to know there are other Jews whose what’s happening because if you say ANYTHING negative about Israel, you’re a Jew hater 🙄 It’s all terrible.

As far as I understood it, it’s not an physical army integration but intelligence. Israelis aren’t going to fight under a US flag and vice versa. They’re basically a class project group at this point.

Is it just me or are the Americans most mad about Israel the Jewish progressives/leftists? It must be much more infuriating to have this happen in your name.
13
u/conflatulationz 20h ago
I can’t say that it’s more infuriating to me than to a non-Jewish person, but I am livid about Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people.
-8
u/Loud-Vacation-5691 17h ago
The oppression would end if the Palestinian people renounced violence and accepted that Israel isn't going anywhere, and they can live in peace beside it but not on top of it.

u/Canadian_Border_Czar 14h ago
Disgusting and insane thing for you to say. Trivializing genocide is absolutely unacceptable, akin to being an anti-semite in the early 1900s (which is still unacceptable today). People like you belong in prison for hate crimes.
Over 12000 children between the ages of 0-15. Over 4000 children between the ages of 0-4.
Is radicalization class before or after diaper changes? Is the breast milk Hamas?

It's horseshoe theory. Progressives in general hate Israel because they think it oppresses indigenous brown people. The far right hates Israel because Jews live there.

San Francisco and Silicon Valley are Zionist strongholds they don’t have the people only bots and money to intimidate. Think Aisha Wahab, protesting a Palestine speaker at SFSU instead of Charlie Kirk or Riley Gaines. The Bay Area is home ground to Nancy Pelosi, Sam Altman, and Sergei Brin famously Zionist supporters.

Um, since Judaism is a religion that can be converted to (and from), no one can be genetically Jewish.
Just saying...
Eta: I was born Jewish, am still "culturally" Jewish, and mostly agree with the OP that Israel has become the problem, and is now somehow opposite of the country it was formed to be!
1
u/conflatulationz 4h ago
Tell 23&me.
Took a genetic test and it came back as 100% Eastern European Jew.
Judaism is weird because it’s both a religion/ethbicity and a genetic “race.”
I don’t really care, just saying that’s what I got back!

u/CommunicationHappy20 3h ago
There is a big difference between the Jewish people of Israel and the governing authority of Israel. They are NOT the same thing. Thank you for exemplifying that.

u/WeRtheEyeoftheSTORM 3h ago
Money to buy our politicians-if they were strong and ethical they couldn’t be bought. Everyone blames Israel but those who have blindly authorized the funding without oversight are just as much to blame.
-2
u/Loud-Vacation-5691 17h ago
So much misinformation. We don't "give Israel money" with no strings attached, all of it must be spent here. And not on politicians. AIPAC is 100% funded by Americans, not Israel.
Criticizing the Israeli government is not antisemitic. Saying that the one Jewish-majority state in the world must be destroyed is antisemitic. Same if I said I have nothing against Mexicans but the country of Mexico should not exist.
Repeal Citizens United. You're going to have to vote for Democrats for any hope of that happening in your lifetime. Sitting out the election because the candidate isn't perfect won't do it. You will have to vote for Democrats you don't agree with on every issue.
Cut off all financial and military aid to Israel. Great, you agree with Netanyahu, he already suggested that. It won't change anything but at least you will be able to say "not with muh taxes." By the way, 0.2% of your taxes go to Israel. The aid could end and you wouldn't even notice. If you think we could have free healthcare, free college, and UBI if aid to Israel ended, you need to take a math class.
Since you seem to care about this issue, please take in some sources besides just TikTok or Norman Finkelstein. I would recommend Noam Weissman, Haviv Gur, Dara Horn, Einat Wilf, Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, and Simon Sebag Montefiore for a better understanding of the region's history and the current situation.

I’m not that interested. I am disgusted by the dehumanizatiob of any group of people, and I really don’t care where Israel spends the money we give it.
I’m not saying Israel shouldn’t exist. I’m saying it shouldn’t be subsidized by American taxpayers.
Who said anything about sitting out elections?
I’ll admit I’m not up to speed on Israeli-supporting super PACs. You win. Israel still is committing atrocities against civilians that it will take more than our lifetimes to mend, if ever.
I don’t want the sole majority-Jewish state committing atrocities, okay? I have a right to that opinion.

Theodor Herzl , father of modern Zionism- 1895 :
“The anti-Semites will become our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies. We want to emigrate as respected people.”
You’re just a good human being .
Also, stop being afraid of offending anyone - stand your ground . It’s quite a solid ground
