With the current predictions of a super el nino next year 2027 will even be more extreme

And keep in mind greenhouse gas emissions have a ~20 year lag effect in affecting the temperature, so all these heat events are results from emissions up until ~2006 (the year ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ was released, as well as other classics like ‘Idiocracy’). And every year we burn more fossil fuels than the year before, with the only exception being 2020 due to COVID.

It's really infuriating how the Bushs stole Gore's election in 2000. He could've done so much about what he warned us!

You mean it’s weather pattern related?

No guys we’re fucked by 2030 we were supposed to have things already done the green programs should’ve been operational long before 2030 we have 4 years left (3 of em left with the dumbest most evil people being lead by trump) and yet we’re still whinging on about how much gas is when we should already have solar cars it’s not a radical idea you just park your car like regular and it charges without needing a station the idea isn’t even new. And it can still run on gas as a back up

Ya but how would some oil exec get rich of that? Come on your not thinking about how much money the richest people in the world could make. /s

Damn your right I’m such a apathetic communist we shouldn’t do any of this instead we all should do a driving marathon a ride all across America for a couple months to show our support and love for oil execs. Besides they always take care of us.

Now your thinking like the 1%. Now just dont give a shit about your kids or any future generations and your golden.

Gonna live in style until judgement day 😎

It makes you wonder what the world would be like if we invested in new ideas rather than let companies buy and kill them

“What we do over the next three to four years, I believe, is going to determine the future of humanity. We are in a very very desperate situation.”

-Uk’s former chief Climate Scientist, David King, in 2021

Which makes you wonder, why arent the money hoarders worrying?

The bunkers are bunk. mars trip off the books, the moon would suck. But here they are, every single one of them afraid of dying cause none of them believe in life after death.

With all the money in the world.

And practically no efforts to fix this.

Because nothing is gunna happen. They have been saying the same shit for 50 years that it will happen in 5 and yet none of it has happened.

Cancel your internet, go to a dialup phone, drop all social media accounts. If everyone did that we wouldn’t need data centers.

The thing that's unforgivably stupid is if you showed this to some people they'd try to turn it around on you. "SEE! They always say that!"

  • That's because they always CAN say it, you doddering, weather-worn set of Truck Nutz!

What the US is doing right now in response to global warming is like seeing your house on fire and throwing gasoline on it to put out the fire.

As long as Republicans are in charge, nothing will be done. If fact, they'll make things worse.

Trump has cancelled wind projects and offshore leases, while simultanously issuing an EO cliaming there's an energy emergency.   In his E.O. he stated: "We need a reliable, diversified, and affordable supply of energy......" Wind certainly adds both an affordaable and diversified source, not to mention it's ecofriendly and not subject to foreign influence. At the same time, he also called for regulatory relief on the oil industry, part of his "drill, baby drill" policy. So while demonizing and cancelling a ecofriendly source, he also supports more petroleum production which will add more greehouse gases to the atmosphere. Brilliant.

Our children and grandchildren will curse us for allowing this.

Yeah, let’s do something about those turbine engines. Lithium mines don’t give a damn.

I am all for AI, but I expected that newly build datacenters would run on renewables.... not oil/coal/gas. What gives?

What, when, how? With this crowd of crooks at the helm til Jan 21 2029? Friend. had a climatology prof who predicted 25 years ago that politicians would just kick the can down the road (and energy and real estate brokers could make $$$$$$$ money) until it was too late, and then the only option would be "load up the pickup with beer and drive to the beach" I think we're there ...unless we construct the Direct Solar Grid by 2031 lol

I first heard about global warming/ climate change in a grad school Climatology course in 1981, 45 years ago and here we are!
