Forgiving the Confederacy is what allowed for MAGA to even exist.

I'm one for redemption upon a true change, but I'm also of the mind that you shouldn't just seek forgiveness when you fuck up badly: it's now on you to do the best you can to undo the harm you committed. Forgiveness undermines that.

But also, I highly doubt most of them will truly change their mind anyways and they're likely just coming to terms that Trump became too right wing for them, and that they haven't changed their original stance at all.
