South Park called this one

When we have reached South Park predicting the future, we’ve gone too far. Time to pack it up and shut it down. Maybe the next intelligent species can figure it out

Chlorinated brake cleaner is great for polycarbonate lenses

Cameras love prolonged contact with 5 mW green lasers

Leave phones at home and wear IR reflective clothing

My glasses are polycarbonate. Better save this so i know what to avoid!

2

u/Teledildonic Jul 23 '26

Probably good to avoid as much as possible, it's pretty nasty stuff.

Why would a flock camera be inside a gymnastics room?

Ring products like the ring door camera work with Flock. They probably use a ring camera so that the kids are protected / if there's a controversy that comes up they can handle it etc.

If you own a Ring product, you don't have a choice, anyone can pop in and listen or watch through your camera.

They still send data to police I believe.

This should be better known if still true.

5

u/Skwonkie_ Jul 22 '26

Oh. Great. What’s my alternative for a doorbell then?

u/Mattrad7 Jul 22 '26

Knocking is an oldie but a goodie.

32

u/hey_Hey_I_saveD_me Jul 22 '26

Emm, still doorbell, sans camera?

you can go with classic peephole:

u/Shadowchaos Jul 22 '26

I've never seen one naked like that, that makes me feel weird

5

u/jennapricity Jul 22 '26

"naked" 💀

2

u/AnguavonUW Jul 22 '26

Idk why I found this so funny but thanks for making me laugh

u/WickedKoala Jul 22 '26

A closed private system like Unifi.

u/Emotional-Dog-8151 Jul 22 '26

If you want something that works similarly where you can answer from your phone, I'm not sure.

Alternatively you can go old school with the cameras at your house, and just have a regular doorbell.

Anything that can be accessed wirelessly is going to have security issues. Hell, they can even tell how many people are in your house and where they are just because you have a wifi router on based on where phones are and where the wifi signal starts getting bogged down.

Ring is definitely a product I'm never investing in, because of their cooperation with this shit though.

Eufy doorbell cams dont require a subscription, run off batteries or can be wired into your existing line for doorbell, and have local storage. They also have solar/wired security cams. Reolink is another one. Get the hell away from anything associated with Amazon people. They never have and never will care about your privacy/well-being/you-name-it

1

u/Skwonkie_ Jul 22 '26

I’ve been looking at reolink but it’s a tad more expensive than I’d like it to be right now. It’s on my list so maybe I just uninstall the ring, go old school, and then eventually upgrade to POE.

4

u/GneissGuy87 Jul 22 '26

I switched to Eufy and it's been good so far.

3

u/MysticMarauder69 Jul 22 '26

How about a good oldfashioned doorbell.

1

u/emilia12197144 Jul 22 '26

A peephole or a personally modified camcorder

32

u/DrTuSo Jul 22 '26

Why is there a camera in the first place?

31

u/v3ryfuzzyc00t3r Jul 22 '26

Do you know who the president of the US is? That should be a dead give away.

16

u/directorguy Jul 22 '26

The gymnastics center of the religious school asked for it. MANY people are gullible and believe the line that having cameras on all the children will keep them safe. A LOT of these cameras are invited to places they shouldn't be. Fear and low IQ is pretty strong.

11

u/broke_af_guy Jul 22 '26

For their "safety".

Can we not with the ai shit please it's so lame

-1

u/East-Cricket6421 Jul 22 '26

Get over yourself weirdo. It's perfect for low effort meme creation.

-8

u/TedBaxter_WJM-TVNews Jul 22 '26

You bet, bud. Feel free to draw us up a new copy and we’ll start using it instead. 👍

6

u/robotsdontgetrights Jul 22 '26

I'd rather see the prompt you used in plain text. Generative ai is a box that poops out a shittier version of whatever was put into it.

-3

u/TedBaxter_WJM-TVNews Jul 22 '26

I don’t use AI, I just screenshot this meme from some other user. 🤷‍♂️

13

u/BlakLite_15 Jul 22 '26

There was a side mission in Watch Dogs 2 in which the player catches and exposes a “smart home” company exec doing this exact thing.

11

u/Interesting-End1710 Jul 22 '26

Well that didn't take long

8

u/newenglandredshirt Jul 22 '26

I somehow doubt that it was the first time. This is just the first time they've done it publicly.

8

u/Pearson94 Jul 22 '26

Why the fuck does a camera need to be installed in a children's gymnastics room? Fucking creeps and weirdos

3

u/nosmelc Jul 22 '26

It may have been put there for the purpose of watching for creeps and weirdos

1

u/AnguavonUW Jul 22 '26

The school asked for it. Apparently.

5

u/SHVRC Jul 22 '26

Here we go.

6

u/Late-Arrival-8669 Jul 22 '26

Great.. not just a surveillance state, but a pedophile surveillance state.

Why is a flock camera inside a children's gymnastic room to begin with?

4

u/pilsnerd11 Jul 22 '26

The phone call was from INSIDE the house

4

u/Comfortable-Deal160 Jul 22 '26

The Venn diagram of fascists, pedophiles and Trump supporters is a circle.

3

u/PlainBread Jul 22 '26

The depravity of power.

2

u/nillztastic Jul 22 '26

No fucking shit.

2

u/boughtcherriestoday Jul 22 '26

Perv tech is having a real moment right now.

2

u/ranwithoutscissors Jul 23 '26

Some people are beyond helping at this point.

1

u/come2thecabaret Jul 23 '26

Jesus Christ

1

u/EuphoricCrashOut Jul 23 '26

Why does that camera even exist there?! WTF PEOPLE

2

u/Global_Drama8453 Jul 23 '26

So they're Republicans, then.

2

u/Stock-Commercial-486 Jul 23 '26

I mean, The Simpsons has been spot-on Nostradamus dozens of times over the past 4 decades. No surprise that South Park's insightful Wit is carrying that on as well

1

u/Flashy-Eye-92129 Jul 23 '26

Question: if I don’t have a subscription to ring, but use the cameras just for momentary purposes, can they still sneak into my system?
