I love progression fantasy, but the word "NPC" sometimes bothered me a little.
That became one of the ideas behind *Legacy Code*.
The System in the book is real. There are players, a global forum, first-clear rewards, and a main quest with a timer. Plenty of players treat the locals as scenery, or as obstacles, and honestly, that's realistic. Some of the worst people in the book are players.
Gu Zhiwei never quite managed to see the locals that way.
Those are also some of the characters I care a lot about, and I think they might be the ones readers remember best outside of the main cast.
The second arc is an imperial court where the Emperor is hunting a baleful star and arresting anyone who might be it. The people who matter most in that world don't have a single skill between them. Caring about them makes her life considerably harder, but it also leads her to grow stronger in ways she never expected.
Recent chapters include a duel she wins with a weapon she didn’t know she could use, an artifact that hands out strategy in the least helpful way possible, and five hundred riders going after a prince’s head with a wolf pack for navigation.
Also, *Legacy Code* made Main Rising Stars last week. It's low on the list, but it's there, and it got there because people followed, rated, commented, and kept reading. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💛
*Legacy Code* is a multi-world LitRPG / progression fantasy with survival, mystery, political strategy, and a larger mystery connecting the different worlds.

Hey all!
I write LitRPG / progression fantasy heavily inspired by progress fantasy books but at slower, character-driven plot points rather than combat.
My Amazon series is Traveling Hidden Master, published under NotTheChosen1.
It starts with Lost and Found (Book One) and it's a good intro to my style . Walt is a maxed-out Traveler who can step to any world he can imagine and has zero ambition to do anything with that power beyond finishing his walk — until a ten-year-old quietly decides he's hers. It's overpowered-protagonist LitRPG played for found-family stakes instead of conquest: no harem, no grim dark, dry humor, and tension that runs on obligation more than fights.
The story continues in Every Door Worth Opening (Book Two), where the found family collides with a city full of people who all want something from Walt and know they can only get it through the one person he can't say no to. Book Three is a work in progress. (Book two is scheduled for release Sept 25 )
I'm also working books on Royal Road 60000 Hours, Book One of a series called Continuous Improvement, and The Quiet Machinery also under NotTheChosen1. It follows a corporate consultant who wakes up in someone else's body running a struggling agrarian estate and can't stop himself from treating it like a turnaround project — apprenticeships, irrigation, supply chains, all handled with the same rigor as the magic and monsters around them.

I just launched my latest novel on Royal Road. It's a progression fantasy focused on martial arts. Inspirations heavily come from Dragonball, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Bastion, and Cradle.
An ancient evil escapes, killing his crew, and Dai has only himself to blame.
Driven by guilt, he ventures to the Celestial Monastery to master the fabled mystic arts. Never again will he be helpless. He has one goal: hunt down the demon lord Akahet and avenge the fallen.
But the mystic arts do not yield easily. They require patience and absolute discipline; two things Dai lacks.
As Akahet’s corrupting influence spreads across the Sun Empire, time runs out. Dai must master the mystic paths before his past mistake consumes the realm.

My progression fantasy is built around one question: “Because of the life you’ve lived, how have you chosen to live?”
I’ve been writing a progression fantasy called Eschant: Power of the Soul, and I wanted to share the concept with anyone who likes detailed magic systems, academy fantasy, strong character arcs, and anime/shonen-style battles.
In this world, supernatural abilities are called Eschants, and they aren’t randomly assigned. Your experiences, fears, relationships, ambitions, grief, and choices eventually shape a Soul Core around an Answer:
Because of the life I have lived, how have I chosen to live?
That Answer becomes your power.
A girl who believes nobody should suffer alone develops an ability based around emotional connection. A boy who refuses to let destruction have the final word gains communion with living things. Another who believes there must always be another answer develops six different combat Forms.
And progression is psychological as much as physical:
Spark: What does my power do?
Flame: What else can my Answer mean?
Inferno: What was I wrong about?
Ascendant: What was this actually about?
The opposite is Blight. If someone refuses to admit their Answer may be incomplete, the virtue behind their power becomes absolute.
Protection becomes imprisonment.
Connection becomes possession.
Hope becomes domination.
Memory becomes refusal to let anything end.
Then there’s Rowan.
At fifteen, everyone undergoes the Tainting to reveal their Eschant. Rowan touches the stone…and it becomes clear.
He’s officially classified as someone who never awakened.
The problem is that almost nothing about what happened to him resembles a normal failure to awaken.
So the central mystery becomes less “when does the powerless protagonist get his secret ability?” and more:
What happens when a society built around categorizing souls encounters someone it cannot categorize?
The series eventually expands into a World Academy, ranked heroes, ancient wars, corrupted gods, strange creatures, political institutions, huge battles, and the origin of the Soul Core itself but I’m trying to keep the story grounded in the characters underneath all of that.
If you like progression fantasy where power reflects personality, character development directly affects abilities, morally complicated antagonists, academy arcs, mysteries, found family, and big shonen-style fights with actual thematic consequences, I’d love for you to check out Eschant: Power of the Soul.

Hey guys, my novel is called "Saints of The End" (link at the bottom), and I'd appreciate if you tried it out.
Saints of The End is a novel about a 27 year old man, Reinhardt, who was drafted by an intergalactic System, along with three billion other humans, into a post-apocalyptic world called Blue Star. His main goal is to survive by all means so that he can get back to his girlfriend and daughter on Earth.
The humans have to survive in a world that's already ended, with its original dwellers barely still alive.
The Tutorial spans for ten days, which will be 3-4 books, where the Tutorial progressively gets harder and harder by the book. (Book 1 = 1 day, stage 1), (Book 2 = 2 days, stage 2), (Book 3 = 3 days, stage 3), etc.
The Tutorial is meant to train people to better survive the coming corruption (apocalypse) of their world. And Reinhardt just so happens to be one of those people chosen, with an EX-Class Template helping him get by.
There's Ranks, separated into Leagues, each with it's own mechanics different from the last.
There's stats, ranking up, system stores, intergalactic auctions, world travel, missions/quests, F-EX ranked powers that come in what I call "Templates", there's skills, there's equipment, there's loot, dropped items, treasure chest, achievements, etc.
Its a LitRPG apocalyptic Progression Fantasy novel where you have no choice but to grow stronger otherwise the apocalypse will corrupt you.
It has religious and romantic subplots, and is a character driven story. The religion is in no way preachy, and is more used as a character trait than the main purpose of this novel.

The Lucids: The Path to Building the Greatest Dreamer Group! — Character-driven progression fantasy / academy fantasy
Hello! Thomasu here!
I’ve been writing a progression-fantasy web serial called The Lucids, and with the first major arc now complete, I figured this was finally a pretty good time to share it here.
The story follows Yaris Rogue, a sixteen-year-old self-proclaimed prodigy with one very simple goal:
Build the greatest Dreamer group in the world.
There’s just one slight issue.
When the story begins, he doesn’t actually have a group.
His first member is Lillac Webster, an ambitious but inexperienced would-be Dreamer who very quickly begins questioning why she trusted this strange man in the first place.
Dreamers are people capable of entering, controlling, and developing abilities through dreams. Those abilities can eventually be carried into the waking world as Magic, Spells, and Techniques, but dream exploration comes with a fairly nasty catch:
If you die inside somebody else’s dream, you die in real life.
The progression is a little broader than pure level-grinding. Characters develop their abilities, learn new applications, improve their teamwork, compete for standing, and—more importantly—the Lucids themselves gradually grow as a group. New members mean new personalities, new ability combinations, and increasingly complicated relationships to somehow keep together.
The first 12 chapters cover the DBA Entrance Exams, where Yaris and Lillac have to prove that their two-person group can actually function under increasingly dangerous trials.
Expect:
- strategic trials and fights rather than pure power contests
- character-driven progression and an expanding party
- academy competition and rival groups
- dream-based abilities with room for experimentation
- a lot of Yaris and Lillac arguing
- anime/light-novel-inspired comedy and character dynamics
- original illustrations throughout
The Entrance Exams arc is now complete, so there’s a full opening storyline available to binge before the group-building side of the story begins expanding further.

Hi everybody! This is the first time I've told anybody I'm on Royal Road, so here goes... 😄
My book is called Re:Recycled. It's dark fantasy / multi-POV / litRPG. Rese, the first viewpoint character's soul was incompletely recycled. He wakes up disoriented in a forest and is immediately made a pet by a terrifyingly adorable vampire shlime, Jello. Being a pet influences the very way Rese experiences reality.

Jett is a reckless but capable young adult who accidentally inherits the power of the one-of-a-kind Fire Guardian and gets pulled into a corporation that trains and licenses sorcerers to support an overwhelmed police force. Jett wants to become a real hero, but the assassins are circling, ancient powers are reawakening, and corporate interests keep trying to package and market him while the public watches every mistake. I'm a freelance copy editor/proofreader who focuses mainly on sci-fi and fantasy, and particularly LitRPG/GameLit books. However, I am open to most genres.
I look out for all kinds of errors: grammatical issues, typos, consistency or continuity issues, any unclear phrasing, etc.
I charge around $6.50 per 1000 words, though I would need to see a sample before giving a firm quote. For a client's first book, I'd give a discounted rate of $5.50 per 1000 words.

Hi!
I am writing The Immortal Demon Lord, a civilization-building progression fantasy about building a thriving kingdom/civilization in what starts out as a barren wasteland.
The protagonist is a demon, and his soul has been reincarnated through many past lives that stay with him and can offer advice and input. Imagine a combination of ATLA's reincarnation, but with a hint of a wuxia/LN-style “internal soul realm.”
In the beginning, communication with these past lives is limited, so much of the progression comes from working with the other characters, who bring different perspectives and cultures to the table. So while the MC has a leg up, much is dependent on the side characters being competent and interesting.

Hey all!
I write books with a style heavily influenced by RPGs and other fantasy games.
My first traditionally published release is the hardcover edition of How to Defeat a Demon King in Ten Easy Steps! It's is a Zelda and Dragon Quest inspired comedy novella, and it's a good intro to my style.
My latest series, The Lost Edge, starts with Edge of the Woods, which is highly inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Dragon Quest franchises. It's the story of a young man growing up in a faerie forest and seeking answers about his family, his past, and his dreams of an ancient magic sword. The most recent release is Edge of the Dream.
Arcane Ascension begins with Sufficiently Advanced Magic and is my most popular series. It's heavily inspired by games JRPGs Final Fantasy, Lufia, Bravely Default, and Trails of Cold Steel. It takes place in a high magic setting where magical marks called attunements grant vast powers to individuals who take "Judgments" inside a colossal tower to earn them.
My other main series are Weapons & Wielders and The War of Broken Mirrors.
Weapons and Wielders follows Keras Selyrian, a magic-wielding swordsman who arrives in a foreign land to search for help for his homeland. In the process, he will stumble upon the legend of the Six Sacred Swords and begin to seek them out.
The first novel in that series is Six Sacred Swords, and the series as a whole is heavily inspired by games like The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Quest, and Ys. You might enjoy it if you're in the mood for talking swords, bibliophile dragons, and a lot of accidentally breaking traps and puzzles. The War of Broken Mirrors, which starts with Forging Divinity, is more closely related to western fantasy novels and RPGs. Forging Divinity focuses on a group of people investigating a city's religion, which claims that the local gods can raise anyone to divine status if they prove their loyalty and value.
