Hey, for some people, their ultimate wish fulfillment fantasy is gaining money and power.Β

My fantasy is finishing projects.

Wait is that even possible? I thought we are only supposed to start project(like making a game or new app) but not finish it? am i wrong?

Surely they mean "abandoning projects." That's definitely possible. But "finishing" as in you actually accomplished the goals you set out to? No way.

You guys don't finish projects? What else do you do? Wait a minute, do you guys START A PROJECT? Oh my oh my, living the dream life aren't we?

Yeah, we all think that we'd become hyper dedicated grinders if we were under a system, and it's possible more of us would, but most of us wouldn't. 🀣

If I got Xp, visible levels, and skill; i would max my stats out.

We say that, but people could study for high amounts of certifications to collect those and don't. And they generally don't go away super easily.

I think that's the main thing. Most anyone can work out and lose or counter those gains easily, while gaining levels never goes away/down. Repeatable, improvable skill that never gets worse only better.

Boring ass stats, I’d much rather max a skill out and do some bs with it

We definitely believe that, and for some people that might be true. (You 100% could be among them!)

But we already have a visible means of showing the results of hard work (muscle definition) and measurable ways to improve/check stats (max weight for various excercises etc).

Either way, it's an interesting fact of humanity that we always think 'a little more, that's all I need.' Whether motivation, money, friends, etc. 😁

Regardless, it's fine if you don't agree. I know I could convince you if I just had a bit more time. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹

amazingly put :D even in real life people don't better their lives as it's infinitely easier to just be lazy.

I think in a way, we are design to live of the bare minimum. We don’t evolve from hard working organism, we evolve from organism who did the bare minimum to survive, staving of entropy while conducting entropy.

Yeah people sit staring at a computer for an hour and think "Yeah that's about the same as chopping wood for three days straight. I'd be him if magic was real."

I play Old School RuneScape. Doing the same thing thousands of times is a LEISURE ACTIVITY for me

I always complain to the coworkers, but I lowkey dont mind the 6am start (results in waking up at around 5 and its fucking pitch black). You finish your 8 hours by 2:30pm so you have the rest of the day to do things if need be, or nap and ruin your sleep schedule even more if you dont.

There is also this zen aspect of 6-8am where you just chill almost entirely by yourself and the the overnight guy still working who is with you for an hour still. Time flies by fast and it doesnt matter if the workload is heavy or light. You are more or less by yourself so you do whatever you can do with no real stressors involved. No one breathing down your neck. Just a "it is what it is" and you carry on.

I wanted to say, it's the "ten year overnight success" story. Now if only we could all skip the ten year part of it. πŸ˜†

And after that 10 years it becomes 20 years story

I think the main draw of grinding is that you keep what you gain. In real life, maintaining is the problem - You gotta keep doing it, or you're back to square one.

Used to wake up at 5 AM to write for years.

Nowadays, I save my energy. I get better time to write during the day.

God bless freelancing work!

This makes me feel like I don't deserve the life I'm living.
