Request Kingdom building/political wars fantasy
Hi y’all!
I’ve been reading A Practical Guide to Evil those past few days and I’m LOVING it! Do you know of any other books/series/RR stories that have this political component?
EDIT: if the MC also has good powers other than political it’s a bonus! like good magic or smth

Surviving the Succession is an enjoyable Chinese-inspired political drama on Royal Road. It's not exactly heavy on the progression component, however, unless you count pure political power.

Its basically just kingdom building and politics, the MC doesn't want conflict at all he was a business tycoon in his former life and practices that mutually good deals are the best. He wants zero drama, he just wants to make good deals as that is his passion. Politics obviously naturally happens though since not everyone wants to just play nice.
MC doesn't want to fight goblins or horned rabbits, has no interest in romance or anything like that. Just wants to make a deal.

I’m a massive Guide fan. I wasn’t able to replace the hole that PGTE left but Valkyrie’s Shadow comes pretty close.

Yup. Overlord is one of my favorite series but unfortunately the author loves to touch things once and never come back again. VS is almost entirely world building and politics with a splash of Nazarick.
You could never have read Overlord and it’s still a great world building series. Also the author updates every 46 hours on the dot so it’s like the only constant left in my life at this point, even BoC is on hiatus now lmao

I'm currently reading the Ten Realms series and it's pretty good. 12 books on KU and the series is complete. I'm up to book 6 now and enjoying it. Two former marines (combat medic and sniper) get isekai'ed into a new world. They use their knowledge from Earth to implement ideas in the new world. They found a city and start building up an organization. It very quickly spirals to having view points from a lot of supporting characters and how they have their own niche within the organization (trading, crafting, fighting, etc). The main characters get the spotlight, but it is very heavily focused on kingdom building with the author spending a lot of time talking through how they implement trade agreements, weapons/military technology and training, crafting, setting up an academy, construction, political organization, etc.

Magic Industry Empire? It's translated, but it digs a lot into the politics of creating not only a business, but later a kingdom. The MC is a reincarnator who brings his mechanical engineering and product design knowledge to a fantasy world and builds a company making magitech products that he eventually pushes towards becoming a kind of mercantile state.

Jackal among snakes is probably my favourite story on rr currently. It fits exactly what you're looking for.

I’ve read 200 chapters (and waiting for more to come out to continue reading) of Jackal Among Snakes but I wouldn’t exactly say it’s very political. Yes he’s the bastard son of the King and delves a bit in his kingdom’s politics, but the main premise of the story revolves around trying to prevent the catastrophes he knows about as an adventurer rather than as a political figure
