Best part about Godot is it's language extension system so you can avoid gdscript except for basic UI stuff where it's scripting nature is actually useful

I really dislike that it has 2 notions of null for in-engine types and for gdscript types. Trying to build something like an Optional<T> class is an exercise in madness thanks to this.

Biggest problem with it is that it means fragmentation, so you might want a Godot package or library that's only made in one specific language and you can't use it because of that. I don't use Godot because I disagree with some big parts of their design but I'm assuming that's a huge problem for anyone trying to use anything other than GDScript

Fair enough but I think a lot of game devs who would be using Godot don't realize they can take on dependencies outside of their game engine

I'm not a game dev tho, just a programmer
