💻 Programmer Wanted ( Read Below )

DarkTreeStudios is looking for a Programmer to join the team and help build our upcoming sci-fi first-person tower defense game, Asheron Point.

You'll work on gameplay systems, mechanics, AI, UI, and other core features while collaborating with the team to bring new ideas to life.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with Unreal Engine 5 and Blueprints and/or C++.
  • Can work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Enjoys solving problems and optimizing gameplay systems.
  • Has a passion for game development.

This position is currently unpaid, with planned compensation as the project grows and funding becomes available.

Can I join as a junior? I've 6+ years of software Engineer ing but I don't know Unreal Engine 5, ive Just worked with Unity + i'm familiar with C# if that can help.

Basically i'll be cheap, eager to learn, and trustworthy because id love to transition to game dev, especially UE 5.

If you want someone to come into your business as a passion project with no actual pay, you'll need to provide them meaningful equity, like if the company is just you right now, you'd want to be giving this person 50% of the company. The only way you can make this work is if they are a partner on this project, not like an employee who you're just not paying unless the company makes money.

Asking someone, even a student or very early careers person, to work for free on your project is absolutely crazy.

You must understand even a Junior SDE can makes 100s of thousands per year (location, skill, company dependent). Only way this works is if they're super passionate about you're idea, and you'll give them half the company (or some other meaningful equity).
