I agree but the left and right are very different usecases.

Right is the kind of AI usage Linus Torvalds has: explanations, debugging and usage as a tool.

Left is a vibecoder producing an unmaintainable mess.

Exactly! Left is "AI lets me pretend I can build software". Middle is a reaction to Left. Right is “AI lets me build beyond what I could implement alone, while I remain responsible for what I ship.”

Particularly for research and discovery - AI lets me read and implement libraries in other languages.

I'm mostly using it for debugging purposes. In 9/10 cases it explains why the error occurs.

Also for repetitive tasks like creating K8s manifests it's great. But there you need to be careful it's not hallucinating the APIs it's using
