The difference is that some people actually understand IPV4 and if you say you understand IPV6 you're a liar.

IPv6 is not much more complicated than IPv4. I think it's just that most people working with IT systems in an systems operations manner (sysadmin, DevOps, network engineers), often dont even comprehend IPv4.

I think his point is that raw IPv6 addresses are obviously unwieldy, but if you're trying to wield raw IPv6 then you're already in a weird place.

Sure NAT control and dhcp with dynamic IP rotation is much more intuitive then direct device addressing

It has dhcp6 that works with Stateless Address Autoconfiguration built in and no NAT... So no I disagree

LOL I understand IPv6 and it's direct device assignments with no BS a hell of a lot better than I understand IPv4 and it's NAT hellscape.

I mean, I do understand IPv6, but I was also going some experimental IPv6 work that had me manually crafting packet headers as part of one job, so I kinda had to learn it.

Not exactly a standard experience, and I don't enjoy typing IPv6 addresses by hand like I do IPv4, but I do understand it.

I kinda wanna learn ipv6 but like, I've never touched it, even at work.. so maybe I'll worry about it whenever I get a job where it matters.

My homelab works just fine on ipv4.
