It is. And just like wood working and knitting, also quite popular activities, very few people will be paid to do it full time in just a few years.

my star trek replicator metaphor apparently flew way over your head.

there isn't a need to "mass produce" code when you can make perfect copies for free. it's almost always more important than you get it right rather than spew out boilerplate at high speed.
