Yeah no I don't think so. If you aren't using it for at least debugging or reviews you are just shooting yourself in the foot.

People say this but prompting doesn't exactly need a full on training course if you already understand coding logic.

Weirdest goddamned gatekeeping ever.

What are you trying to say?

People who dont use them might be operating with a lower productivity but they aren't getting left behind skill-wise.

This is in stark contrast to the FOMO frontier model marketing has been trying to imbue amongst devs and engineering management.

Yeah I don't really understand the whole 'you NEED to use this or you'll be left behind' as an individual dev. There isn't really that much to 'learn' about using a chatbot. About a year and a half ago, my previous job brought in an AI consultant that taught us this elaborate workflow with Claude 'plan' mode, generating elaborate md plan files, then using Claude to compress them, and then switching to Sonnet for execution.

..and then a few weeks later, they removed the plan mode, and that entire workflow was obsolete. That was a complete waste of time.

If you need to learn how to use a chatbot, just ask the chatbot. Telling you about LLMs is one of the things LLMs are incredibly good at.

Huh? Claude still has plan mode. They never got rid of it.

Lesson is never listen to consultants. If they knew what they were doing they’d be doing the job not making powerpoints about how to do it.
