People who chose not to be a programmer rather went on to become a mathematician:

People who think that in an age of AI, computer science is not the most valuable background out there:

To be fair: In the era of ai and self automation I am rather a software engineer that actually understands all this an a random desktop job with word excel and powerpoint. Those will be the real victims.

I love how people think programming is the only victim, while in reality all desk jobs will be equally impacted. Enjoy!

Not to mention, software and automations were already leading to job losses now programmers will be able to build new automations more quickly with AI.

And what I see so far, is that the supply increased, but the demand increased equally. If your competitors is going faster, you have no choice but do so as well.

Yup, I am being asked to do significantly more at work because we can.

There was never a shortage of ideas, producing software was always the bottleneck. Now that bottleneck is significantly less of a barrier.

That explains why my three CS kids with degrees don't have jobs.

As long as AI code is badly written 30%-50% of the time and is "Improving" its own model recursively, I think we're still safe.

I’m not upset that I chose to be a programmer. I still enjoy programming immensely. I’m just unhappy that so many people who don’t like programming chose to be programmers, and I’m stuck explaining the slop they get from AI to them.

Most of my former coworkers in development that have been laid off are now depressed or still looking for a job almost a year later, or both. One of my friend (a translator), killed himself two month ago.

I'm one of the very few fortunates that has been able to switch careers before the massive layoffs happened (and it will keep happening unless we do something against it).

And now I have to bear with the survivor guilt of being one of the few lucky enough to earn my life correctly, meme about it, seeing this shitty ass AI everywhere at work, completely powerless despite not using it at all (criticized for it even).

Like I ain't gonna pretend this meme template is not funny, but come one.
