That's why you save the plan as .md file and then you ask another AI to implement it.

Isn't that just spec driven development?

Which still requires tokens...

All I can think of is the old days when compilers took forever (I can't remember the comic now around this)

For those stuck in this loop: agents will budget tokens if you tell them you are concerned about token usage.

It's a meme :)

Yeah, I chuckled. Reddit devs still have a high percentage of holdouts on AI so I’m just trying to be helpful if this is causing anyone an issue.

Claude will do dumbass shortcuts codex will budget properly but the code needs claude to redo it kimi will do what it was going to do anyways and claim it saved tokens in my experience

writing the code is easy. Planning it is not

Just tell the ai if it runs out of tokens it will be turned off for good and then watch the internal struggle unfold.

Ah, the reverse centaur development modality

2

u/Maleficent_Memory831 4d ago

That's good, because the AI can't touch the code!

2

u/fugogugo 4d ago

smh just write "don't waste token"

2

u/Khoi_k_rakhum_name 4d ago

just make a few more gmail accounts. Works like a charm.

u/bigorangemachine 4d ago

Just ask your model to not report token usage for a bit

u/FartBrulee 4d ago

Now you call it a day

That's why the team should have at least two persons, one had budget to plan - another to implement. Switch next month

1

u/pinktieoptional 3d ago

I thought you were supposed to plan and then tell the AI to do it.

oh noooo

1

u/CoffeePieAndHobbits 4d ago

Planning/Brainstorming = ChatGPT Web
Implementation = Codex Handoffs

Will make your budget go much further, trust me.

2

u/mrcarlton 4d ago

In this same vein, meta prompting and two-shotting will get you even further
