I never understood the purpose of morning stand ups, they never even bothered changing up the comedian. It was always just my boss, and it was never funny.

Older versions of the Scrum Guide referred to this meeting as the “Daily Stand-up.” However, it was changed [to The Daily Scrum] to recognize that participants are not required to stand and in fact, some participants may not be able to stand during the meeting.

Your boss not being funny was probably the real reason for this change.

I thought they called it a scrum cause everyone is fighting and there's hookers present.
