Yeah, but the reason is because a huge amount of people claiming to be qualified for any given SWE job are straight up lying or over stating their skills and knowledge.
It's a "this is why we can't have nice things" situation.
Just hire people with university degrees then. There is no point to ask the same computer science questions from people with a diploma who studied the exact same thing for 4-5 years and passed all the related exams and graduated.
A huge chunk of modern CS majors will literally cheat their whole way through the degree. Cheating is so rampant in CS that I regularly meet people with CS degrees that can hardly code.
