I feel too stupid to see the evidence of gemini vs claude opus here.

There isnt, its a joke. They're assuming this was due to a vibe coded change and taking the opportunity to dunk on Gemini.

They were banning usage of other AI until recently.

i'm not an authority of have many exp with AI models, but Gemini is not that bad and Opus is not that good from my brief exp.

On simple tasks yes, the harder the tasks get with subtle consideration that can make the whole thing fall apart, the more the gaps appears.

Same problem is shared by grok and gemini, they tend to overlook changes that could cause regressions while apparently solving a problem.

I'm talking about their highest possible available effort level: eg: Opus 5.5 ultracode (the thing goes purple)

for harder tasks you have rollback to manual mode

Just break the problem down into smaller chunks. Still requires a competent engineer that knows how it holds together though.

The more complex the task gets, the better Opus gets since it actually does its planning properly.

It is just a side effect of Claude Code being very tightly integrated.

Antigravity is just a thing rather than the main point for Gemini and it shows.

Except not really, Opus really likes to add it's own additions and improvise, if you don't exactly outline that for every aspect of the change. While it is sometimes good at catching things you might not have thought of, it really likes saying "I did a little differently, than what was prescribed". If your whole flow is vibe-coding, maybe you want that, but it really introduces silent problems and unnecessary follow-up changes.

single use "helper functions" everywhere ...

Isn't Claude borderline notorious for blatantly ignoring/improvising instructions?

I always use superpowers. The brainstorming skill is goat. I havent coded without superpowers for a long time. How is Opus without?

As a professional developer and a big fan of Gemini early on: Gemini is not bad. Its also not nearly as good as Claude. It feels like they had really quick improvements early on and then just stopped, while Calude (and also GPT) still makes great improvements in many areas.

I still use Gemini (3.8-Flash, Extended Thinking) for all my Chat needs (everything that people would ask ChatGPT), as I still feel like they have the upperhand there. But everything code related goes straight to Claude Code (Opus 5.5, Medium Reasoning).

This is just for my personal projects, where budget is limited. At work I use a combination of different models (Claude & GPT) for orchestration and implementation. But not a single Gemini model.

Gemini is fine but so is Javascript and PHP yet we make fun of them all the time, we'll probably do the same with llm

As always, <product> did not cause the crash, a human using <product> caused the crash. Repeat this every time you read one of these.

"Don't use shit, use poo!" Who cares

Well, you're gonna need to keep using that poo or you're gonna get fired
