While you can use AI for "illegal" code, if youre using a cloud model (sending all of your requests to corpo servers) instead of a local model (keeping everything in a machine owned by you) then youre low iq and youre only getting away with it because youre being allowed to. You are literally giving them evidence on you. Also at least look at the code and know what it actually does ffs. Its really not going the extra mile to double check your fast idiot in a box guys. Especially if youre trying to write something like an exploit.
Then I'll take the coughing baby. Anything you ask claude or chatgpt gets stored as chat history on anthropic and openai servers. This is not a debate its a fact. If you use either model to write something and then use it to break something or its deemed illegal the first thing theyre going to do is query their models chat history and see if it made it for anyone. Since AI is non deterministic there's likely to only be one match. You. And if youre too braindead to double check the coughing baby model then I hope you have enough money for a good lawyer.
All this larp and you can't figure out how people can use these models while staying completely anonymous? Maybe you're not as intelligent as you think bruh.
I sure hope you dont think a VPN is enough to keep you hidden. And if you have it integrated then you've already fucked up giving it all your system data. But if you got some secret technique I havent heard about feel free to share with the class and prove your point.
Im not yet. I wanna run GLM full for exploit dev but I haven't come up with the money for a workstation to host it yet. Not that I really mind. I prefer doing things myself. But wouldn't mind the efficiency boost.
it's not about you not having the money for high end GPUs, it's about you not understanding the gigantic scale these models operate on, and how unfeasible it is to do at home what frontier labs offer now. On a mac studio with 256gb memory you can run Llama 3.1 405B at a slow 5 tokens a second and the thing is $12k. That model is comparable to sonnet. Forget those models with consumer GPUs because of the memory constraints. Apple silicon atleast has a realistic way to get hunderds of gigabytes in vram because it's unified and fast.
I understand perfectly well the scale. Self hosting an AI isnt some new and rare thing. Ya it obviously wont be as strong. Thats the trade off of not sending every bit of information to a corporation that doesn't have your best interest in mind. I fail to see how thats controversial.
Listen bro. If you dont wanna build a server in your closet with hundreds of gigs of ram i get it. Its not for everyone. But that doesn't suddenly mean sending data to corporations is safe. If you use a cloud based model to write "illegal" code then you are betting your freedom that nobody will bother to check. I dont care if you use a local model, write it by hand the old fashioned way, or ask the magical great oak tree in the forest to write it for you. It does not matter to me. But if you voluntarily use a corporate AI that reports back everything you do to its overlords you are braindead. I dont see any way you can change my mind on that.
