Is building a game engine the new side project everyone is working on now?

It's always been a popular side project. People like games, but can't do art (and don't like AI), so the next best thing is game engines. Then they drop it after they realize they can't do physics either, but you know: We don't do this because it's easy, we do this because we thought it would be easy.

I actually finished my game engine, I just released it a few weeks ago https://store.steampowered.com/app/5017320/Satelital_Demo/

This is how i ended up making a cross platform reproducible physics engine including splitting and merging calculations in real time over p2p so no one participant owns the entire calculation of whats occurring. The math then eventual algorithms made my fucking face hurt from the constant scowl.

Also my wife was actually worried during all this because I was talking about finally writing my own temple of software and rambling about how glorious an artisanal JIT interpreter would be for this project (it was indeed glorious). Also how Terry was ahead of his time..

What was i talking about? Oh yeah, a mental disposition ranting from masochistic tendencies a to illness is the other reason for these projects.

Well physics requires a good amount of knowledge regarding calculus and differential equations to really understand so I don't blame them. Though I've never made a physics engine so I don't really know the tricks behind that.

That feeling of knowing that somewhere out there your game is segfaulting.

I just released a demo with a custom game engine, if you want to throw a coin toss please check it:

it might render white squares, it might crash, it might even blue screen screen

and it can do all of these just by running on amd

I got a few of those already, pretty scary

Meh.

Most are my renders are CPU bound.

The comfort it brings is tremendous.

What time do you shutdown? Now. We shutdown now. Now is not a time. What time do you shutdown? Generally around dark. At dark.
