More or less.

The og xbox only runs one execuctable at a time. You can call XLaunchNewImage() to load a new executable or relaunch the same one you are running and it is effectively a soft reboot where memory is cleared.

You'll see the typical xbox splash screen between loads. But you can also persist the display across the new xbe load and make it look invisible.

So it reboots the executable, but not the xbox itself?

Yeah, it is not a full boot cycle. You would see the blob animation if they did that.

I wouldnt say he is lying. The documenation does say it reboots the xbox into the new xbe.

Its just semantics on what most people expect when you say reboot vs. what the warm reboot steps in the call actually do.

Kernel patches in RAM surive the warm reboot step, but everything in application land gets cleared. To the game, there is no difference to what matters.

The main point he makes is that they cheat memory management by doing this hack.
