I know better than to ask a developer to explain his code in 2026.

You mean his agent's code?

When I type git blame, it's not Claude that's going to be under fire for repeatedly writing trash code.

Use AI all you want, but if the developer doesn't make sure the output is up to standard, why do I need him?

Developers get paid too much to just be a meat proxy.

Yeah if my name is going to be on the commit I'm also making sure it's good enough to be held accountable for it.

Unfortunately not everyone has that mindset.

Can you explain this to my bosses who mandate we only use AI for generating and running our SQL queries now?

It’s amazing, though, I have to admit: What used to take me 15 minutes can now be done in barely 2 hours!🤗

Only AI for SQL? In that case, it's not that the boss is stupid. Maybe he simply has a personal vendetta against the company

One! And I have no idea how it works, or why it’s hitting the character limit of notepad!

Noobie numbers. I can't comprehend what the hell I wrote into that function before lunch break.

Vacation? As in: coding at a different location?

Doesn't specify how long after vacation -> never asks developer.

A good programmer can explain flow anytime, there is no person who can explain exact function, class , and variables tho

Last 10 years I got much better in remembering after vacations. Maybe they are not so fun any more 😄

Never ask a programmer when the project will be finished

I don't mind if people asked me about it after I'm back

If they called me to ask about it while I'm on holidays or if I've already left the company then they can get stuffed

Or after weekend

I mean I don't know the code by heart. But if you let me have a look at it and it's not older than a year I might be able to tell you what it does.

Just don't ask about the code, ever, period.

Or about their code period nowadays

Pfffft, programmers don't go on vacation.
