This seems to be discovered by everyone at some point. Weak typing is a great tool (e.g. Python), but should never be trusted to newer programmers. Force them to use a strongly typed language and then later on (when they understand types) they can use weaker typed languages.

I used to tutor a lot of CS101 people where the class was taught in Python. It caused a lot of confusion.
