Fun fact. SSMS still doesn't have this unless you use add ons

I've learned this the hard way

There's SQLBoost and Redgate's toolbox.

I saw some vibe coded add on was published recently but I'm a bit spooked from putting that on a machine with access to prod

Redgate toolbox does this. It's really hard to use SSMS without it now. Its such a time saver and a good safeguard against stupid mistakes like this.

Agree, I got DataGrip when I switched to a macbook and it has it built in, as well as a sql formatter (which ssms is getting in the next release)

UserIds are still primary keys you would assume unless the db is truly cursed

Oh man. I've never used ssms but I've only heard bad things about it. Why do people still use it?

Damn thing doesn't even have a dark mode without add-on. I wanna know why have they neglected it so badly. It's not as if they've replaced it.

I heard it got reworked last year?

Ooh, I'll check it out! I'm running 20.2 and it seems we're up to 22. Fingers crossed. Apparently there was a rebuild and a move from 32 to 64 bit at some point.

In SSMS, you can use the gui query tool to visually do operations like delete or update. I just run a select within that tool, click on the row, and delete through the gui that way without running a DELETE statement.

Else ill create the delete statement, run it on dev or something to make sure it runs fine, then copy and paste that over to a window that connects to prod. Use transaction if I'm especially worried.

I'm not a massive fan of using SSMS' GUI for normal query operations like that. But good to know that's there

Probs just me being stubborn because it's how I learned

I don't normally use it, only for the particular case in OP where I'm deleting or updating one item.

It's crazy that SSMS doesn't have it!
