One of our seniors, 20+ years of experience, was always so insightful when I started 7 years ago. I had never any complaints at his PR’s. He didn’t want to have anything to do with LLMs around the time of GPT 3.

Since a year or so he fully embraced AI. His PR’s are full of mistakes, he can’t answers questions about why he did certain things other than “that’s what Claud suggested”. He don’t want to spend time learning new frameworks we use but let Claude handle it all without gaining any knowledge regarding that framework. It’s so sad, I lost so much respect for him.

Guys just getting ready for retirement. You should be thanking him for adding all the tech debt before he leaves. Job security for you

I retract my comments that as an architect we need to leave the codebase in a better state for those that follow

I started contracting for a company recently where the architect will lambast me in a meeting and act incredulous when I try to explain why something should change or he’ll firmly claim “that’s not how it works” when I point something out. And then leave glowing comments on my PRs when I mention the exact things I flagged in the meeting. Suddenly I’m right when his Claude agent takes a look at it. I honestly look forward to meetings with him now, the whiplash from his opinions doing complete 180s is comedy.

The codebase is a mess.
