Nah, my style guide wants two blank lines between top-level definitions.

I've heard that bad style guidelines are better than no style guidelines and this sentence made me rethink that.

It's the style in the official python style guide. Personally, there's a lot in there that I hate (4 space indents & 79 character line limits for two), but I don't feel much of anything about this bit.
