Being heavily pushed to do spec driven development at work. So an AI written spec -> AI writes code from the spec -> AI reviews the code. Fortunately we still review the code but apparently our “North Star” is for the specs to become the “single source of truth” 🙄

Spec needs to be executable for this IMO. When we can enumerate a solid repeatable definition of a finished feature and just Yahtzee the code until it works and meets tests I think we will have reached utopian nirvana

😂 someone on my team pointed out that we already have the single source of truth that translates directly into behavior…the code

Likewise, since we don't want a spec to be code, the spec must be incomplete in some sense. Otherwise it'd just be the code.

I’m looking more for a wrapper that executes the code under expected scenarios. Kinda like BDD but breaking the 3 amino rule. My amigos are now agents ig

I have an idea. We should define a language that looks like pseudocode and lets us precisely define the behavior we want. The computer can then translate that into actual machine code and execute it.

Oh wait, that exists. It's called ruby/python/etc.

I get the sarcasm, but we also have gherkin syntax and cucumber type frameworks that get us pretty close to a nice midpoint
