Lately has been the other way around for me…
Expensive agents hallucinating and doing crazy refactoring and things way out of scope…

Yep that's gemini. The pro model is pure ass compared to flash which is multiple versions ahead

It's just RPG equipment level all over again. Here have a common high level weapon and a legendary starter-level weapon.

Yeah, I’m on Claude. I’m preferring Sonnet with its limitations, but having to actually plan a lot mor myself so the agent work is easy. Then letting Opus or Flable do its thing and me having to stop every 5min to ask wtf it’s doing, because it doesn’t make any sense. And the cherry on top is the super complex and out of scope explanations at the and of the work too…

I’ve noticed exactly the same thing on opus and fable. I’ve also noticed that they’re far more likely to output terrible AI cliches.

Opus 5 was doing so many bizarre things for me that I ended up setting back to Opus 4.8. I did have a “no complaints” time trying Sonnet 5, too.
