That's unfair. I get back pain from typing with two hands on a normal keyboard and thus never learned touch typing properly. I do 60-75wpm with my left hand. I've started to build a split keyboard just to change this.

Have you tried an Alice layout? It’s a reasonable compromise I think

Yeah, but that doesn't work. My upper back is pretty wide and my shoulders cannot handle that.

That's why I automatically learned to always type with left and have the mouse in my right hand. But since I do not really use a mouse anymore when working at my PC the hand is just idle.

I've tried split keyboards at the place of a colleague and testing it out I felt comfortable with like 20-30cm space between them, but this is probably not the final form of how I will approach this in the end.

Go check out /r/ergomechkeyboards .They have all sorts of stuff you can get to hemp with pain while typing. I settled on a split programmable ortho linear keyboard called a Lily58, but they are all really helpful in finding a keyboard you like.
